Looking for heroes

Every year at this time the North Central PA Chapter of the American Red Cross seeks nominations for heroes in our own backyard.

We seek persons who go above and beyond in their capacity to make our community a better place to live.

The nominations we receive speak to the saving of lives in fire and flood, they tell of a river rescue and they alert us to the rescue of a tiny puppy from a burning building. Heroes among us are male, female, young and experienced, no matter; they all exhibit the same characteristic; they place others before themselves.

Those of us who serve on the Board of Directors here at the American Red Cross serving Clinton, Lycoming and Tioga counties urge you to send us your nomination for a hero should you be so inclined, but more important, we extend the invitation to attend the breakfast to meet the people receiving an award.

They are firefighters, police, community leaders, a philanthropist, a military role model and three young college students who are but temporarily living in our community, yet chose to perform the brave act of saving the life of strangers. We know you will be inspired, we hope you will come away with a new found regard for your neighbors and we don’t want you to miss the opportunity to celebrate with us.

Call us at the Chapter at 570-326-9131 for more information on the Heroes Breakfast Friday, March 28
