Give me liberty

“I wish nothing but good; therefore, everyone who does not agree with me is a traitor and a scoundrel.” You might think that this was said by Barack Obama, Harry Reid, John Boehner, or any number of our elected officials, and you could be forgiven for thinking so, but it is actually a quote from King George III. How sad is it that the tyrant we were freed from is so similar to the tyrants we have now elected?

Samuel Adams said, “If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.” I believe that Adams was describing the people we have running the government of this country now and indeed the country needs patriots to step up and prevent its ruin. The United States is the birthplace of freedom and if it dies here, it will perish everywhere.

We need a new American Revolution to restore the country to its founding principles. I’m not talking about a violent revolution. Because our founders gave us the tools, and not all have yet been removed, we don’t need to. It was John Adams who said, “The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people.”

We must once again get the hearts and minds of the people set on freedom and self reliance. The American system has been the greatest force for good ever established by men for the good of all men.

It is worth fighting for as much now as it was when King George thought he knew what was best for his subjects.
