Rays of light
As the drama director at Montoursville Area High School, I would like extend heartfelt gratitude to the Community Theatre League for offering the Ray of Light Awards for area high schools. From coordinating adjudicators to attend the many plays and musicals throughout the school year to the countless hours that go into the award ceremony itself, the Community Theatre League should be commended for their investment in our region’s students.
The Ray of Light Awards make each and every student involved in their school productions feel like a star. The walk on the red carpet, the live performances, the slideshow of pictures on the big screen, the individual and group nominations, the awards, the acceptance speeches, the catered after-party — every moment of the ceremony is exciting and inspiring. Because of the positive spirit of the program, students do not dwell on the competitive aspect; instead, my students and I attended nearly every musical that other schools were putting on this spring as a way of supporting theatre in the area. (We missed a couple because of our own show.) I have loved watching my students forge new friendships with other theatre kids as a result of the Ray of Lights program.
Thank you, Andree Phillips, Jacquie Engel, Leah Barrow, the CTL Board and Ray of Light adjudicators — your hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed! Thank you for honoring excellence in high school theatre!
