Medicare for all
Winston Churchill is said to have once remarked: “You can always count on Americans to do the right thing – after they’ve tried everything else.” Now that the Republicans have failed in their attempt to give the very rich a gigantic tax cut at the expense of Medicaid recipients in for guise of a health reform bill, “the politically impossible may become the politically inevitable.” We may see Medicare for All l finally get the attention it deserves as the health system on which we finally settle.
In the end, as Paul Krugman has pointed out: “…, health care isn’t all that complicated. Basically, you need to induce people who don’t currently need medical treatment to pay the bills for those who do, with the promise that the favor will be returned if necessary.”
