Celebrating failure to replace Obamacare

Seven years ago, when Obamacare became law, most of the individuals affected had no idea what the terms premium, deductible, co-pay and out-of-pocket maximum meant or how these expenses determined their overall cost of health care. These individuals also became aware of tax subsidies, tax credits, and HSA’s. When the Trump/Ryan plan was proposed and touted as better health care at much lower cost, the people quickly determined the GOP plan was exactly the opposite, less coverage at a significantly higher cost.

Raucous town hall meetings and public outrage showed a very negative public opinion of the plan. Republicans could not defend their spin of better care at less cost and the plan went down in flames. Trump and Ryan were exposed as carnival barkers.

Fortunately, some of the Republicans actually showed they had a conscience when they found out how much harm would be done to their lower and middle class voters. Kudos to those congressmen who put the people of their district ahead of their party. And shame on you, Tom Marino, for hiding during the entire process; you should have learned your lesson with Biggert-Waters.
