City Council behind the scenes
Among the things that a spectator could have seen at recent Williamsport City Council meetings that would probably not make it to a reporter’s printed coverage of the public meeting were these:
According to the printed agenda, Councilwoman Elizabeth Miele was to offer up the invocation. When 7:30 p.m. came around. Ms. Miele wasn’t there yet. So it was offered up by Councilman Randy Allison. Just as the invocation and flag salute ended, Councilwoman Miele arrived. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. not 7:35 p.m. Tardiness is not a very good attribute for a public official.
I also thought it was interesting that the police department’s representative at a City Council meeting, normally attended by the Police Chief or one of his veteran Captains, was assigned to a very young rookie policewoman.
Personally, I think she did rather well at it and she was even much better looking than her police administrators.
