Tax cuts working in Pennsylvania
Tax cuts are already working in Pennsylvania. Johnstown-based First Summit Bank recently announced $1,000 bonuses for full-time employees, in addition to salary increases and higher charitable giving. Sewickley Spa has pledged new capital expenditures, with owner Dorothy Andreas calling tax cuts a “morale booster.” She’s not alone. As the founder and president of Guy Chemical in Somerset, I will use my tax savings to purchase new equipment and look into opening a second manufacturing plant, providing much-needed career opportunities to the hardworking people of Somerset County.
For years, I paid nearly 50 percent of my business income to the government, which took valuable resources away from private investment. I’ve had to take out bank loans on a number of occasions just to pay my taxes. Those days are over. Because of President Trump and congressional Republicans, I can now use my hard-earned money to reward my employees. Isn’t that the American Dream?
