Abhorrent

To Sen. Toomey and Rep. Marino:

Failing to speak out about the current policy of separating parents and children of families attempted to enter the border indicates you support a policy hostile to the humane treatment of refugees and families. Whether those individuals are accepted into the U.S. as refugees is immaterial to their legal status.

In my opinion, this action flies in the face of our country’s legal view of families and the due process provided for those seeking asylum. This is a policy, not a law, where children hostages are being used as negotiating pawns.

Allowing the head of the Justice Department to use a phrase from a religious text to justify his actions then allows any American to cherry pick any portion of a religious document to justify his or her actions.

Additionally, in the past your position on protection for unborn children signaled a position supporting strong families and caring for children.

Your failure to voice opposition to the actions of the President and the Justice Department suggests that your previous positions are purely political and lack moral backbone.

If you really stand for family and the protection of children, then you must take a leadership position in opposing the current practices.

Trying to link the construction of a border wall to the hostage children is abhorrent and one that lacks any honest ethical value.
