The American Way

Most telemarketers give me the impression that they are about 8 eggs shy of a dozen. The average citizen of this country could at any time be arrested for disturbing the peace or annoying a neighbor for such phone call behavior. Why don’t our state or federal government put a stop to the people who are paying others to do their dirty work?

We senior citizens do not need anyone cramming something down our throats which we do not need. If we need a doctor, a hospital, some medication, groceries or a pizza to be delivered to our home, we know enough to call them or drive to whatever place we need the service. I have had annoying phone calls daily from some utilities companies who are out to make money, just as well as provide a service to the public. The light company telemarketers claim over and over again that we the customers of the electric business have overcharged us on our monthly light bill for some time. We must follow their directions to fill out a form and sign it before we receive the amount they claim they owe us.

The American way to handle this situation would be to give us credit on our light bill or mail us a check. The reason for this form and signature to me would only serve the light company to do whatever they chose to do concerning this overpayment and there would be very little we customers could do, because they would have our signature to use against us, or at least in their favor. The telephone companies should not allow this to happen.
