In the letter “Unfair”, Patricia Herr laments not getting a COLA raise for her state pension and complains about what current workers make. SERS and PSERS pensions are more than fair.

She is receiving a pension based on what she earned, not on what others earn today.

There was never a promise of COLA’s for state retirees. There was a promise that if you met the criteria a pension would be provided upon retiring based on what you earned and the number of years you provided a service to the Commonwealth.

Expecting more than what you were promised, and being indignant because you’re not getting it, is greed.
