The fallacy of settled law

The Democrats want to oppose President Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court. They are concerned that his nominee will not consider Roe v Wade as “settled law”, and he may seek to have it overturned. They want assurances that if confirmed he will not change the earlier Supreme Court decision, as if it should never be questioned.

It is interesting to me that if settled law should never be changed, or questioned, then the Democrats would have also gotten their way back when slavery was settled law as well. But that’s OK, remain ignorant about history. That makes it OK now to keep an unjust and immoral ruling if it has already been settled law by the Supreme Court.
