A call for unity

Quotes in the news: From Republicans….you rotten Democrats, have you no shame? Bashing poor innocent Judge Kavanaugh.” From the Democrats….you worthless Republicans, you didn’t have the decency to even give President O’Bama’s nominee an interview!”

But who is keeping score? We all are and it does no good. President Trump, has he accomplished some good things? Yes. Is he dividing us more with his personal attacks and low moral character? Yes. Did President Clinton lack personal moral integrity? Yes. Did he help bridge many of the national divisions? Yes.

But who is keeping score? We all are and it does no good. Scott Rasmussen’s recent column stated, “fortunately, our society is not as polarized as our politics.”

I have witnessed this first hand as I am sure all of you have. Calm discussions to solve problems at school, work, places of worship and, yes, even in those places have people who keep score but those aren’t the ones who get things accomplished.

I have been fortunate enough to travel across the country a few times and I have found common ground with people while pumping gas, shopping or eating dinner at a restaurant. We can all do it. Let’s turn the other cheek a few more times.

I know, I know, you have all turned the other cheek so many times you’re bruised all over. Some of you are saying, good grief, another pie in the sky letter, and others are…yes, so right, let’s try working together a little more. Let’s have some civil discourse and compromise to solve issues. Yes but who is keeping score?
