Do we value our freedoms enough?

There have been several letters written to this paper recently complaining that if only the government didn’t take God and prayer out of the schools, the kids these days would behave much better.

My answer to that would be that if families did not take God and prayer out of their homes first, then there would be no need to worry about the government’s restriction on God and prayer in the schools!

There is no such thing as “the wall of separation between church and State” anywhere in the Constitution. It is a phrase used only once by Thomas Jefferson in a letter written to the Danbury Baptist church originally intended to keep the Government out of the church’s business, and distorted by atheists to try to keep the church out of the Government’s business!

This fact is not defended by Christians who have abdicated their responsibilities as citizens of this Country to value their religious freedom.

The First Amendment is to ensure the freedom OF religion, not as some would suggest that it is the freedom FROM religion.

In fact, the whole Constitution is written to establish the restrictions placed on Government power, and yet it is being taught as though it is written to restrict the people’s freedom instead.

So it seems that the government did not take away anything that the people did not value enough to keep. The question is, how many more freedoms are not valued enough that the citizens of this country are willing to lose? Speech? Gun rights? Time will tell.
