Walking with DinosaursI recently wrote an article for the March 20 edition of Showcase about the upcoming performances of "Walking with Dinosaurs: The Live Experience" coming to the Bryce Jordan Center. I was more than excited to do this article because, let's face it, how cool are dinosaurs? From what I took from the interviews conducted for the article, it seems that "Walking with Dinosaurs" is the theatrical version of "Jurassic Park." If this is the case, I'm psyched. What boy growing up didn't have a fascination for dinosaurs? I remember going to see the "Jurassic Park" movies in the theaters and being amazed at all the different dinosaurs. I remember thinking that no matter what the characters in the movies were going through, I would LOVE the chance to see a dinosaur up close. I didn't care that the characters were being eaten by the Tyrannosaur Rex or Velociraptors -- I wanted to touch one! This may be the closest I ever get to that experience. The head of puppeteers for "Walking with Dinosaurs" claims that these beasts are the closest anybody will ever get to interacting with dinosaurs. He said that all of the dinosaurs' movements and habits are based on facts of what we know about dinosaurs and their social habits. He added that the roars and the movements of the great beasts will be felt by the audience. It may be the little boy in me, but I can't wait for the performance this weekend. Even if the animals are just puppets, a guy can imagine that he's witnessing real dinosaurs.
