So You Think You Can Dance, Part 3

In a night that seemed to have the judges of So You Think You Can Dance a little disappointed, two "poppers" proved they are more than just pop-and-lock hip hop dancers. Twitch and Joshua both wowed the judges with dances that couldn't have been farther from their favored genres.

Joshua danced a light-hearted broadway number that had Nigel Lythgoe on his feet with a standing ovation. He announced, "Now that's what I've been waiting for tonight." The rest of the judges were taken back, as well, thrilled by Joshua's emotion and the energy he put into the performance. I don't think any of the judges realized how theatrical the hip hop dancer could be. The judges added that they had never seen Katee as expressive as she was, either.

Twitch attacked the opposite end of the musical spectrum, and danced a Canadian waltz to an emotional piece. The choreographer of the piece said it was a tribute to his daughter, who has lost all motor function, yet smiles whenever she sees people gracefully moving. Twitch was surprisingly smooth and graceful, and his partner Kherington was the perfect partner to balance the couple. Twitch has now shown two weeks in a row that he can adapt to whatever dance style he is given, and dance the style well. The most impressive aspect is that he has no professional training prior to So You Think You Can Dance in any of these dancing genres. He's still my pick to win it all, and if he keeps dancing as well as he is now, it will be no contest.

Salsa dancer Susie was a disappointment to the judges in her own genre. Chris was laughed off the stage by the judges for his "krump" dance. All three agreed he looked like a nervous white boy who didn't have an ounce of gangsta in his blood. Chelsea was a disappointment this week, as well, although the judges loved her seductiveness the first week.

My pick for who probably will go tonight is Susie for the girls, and it's a toss up between Matt and Chris for the men. Neither have really impressed me yet in the competition, and to be honest, I can't stand watching Matt. I wouldn't mind seeing him go. I'm also not a big fan of Will, and I think he's overrated by the judges.
