WmsptSunGazette gets in on the tweets
March 11, 2009 - LLee Janssen
Readers who have followed by blog will recall some experimentation last summer upon returning from the AP News Train on the next wave of technology that is feeding our info-hungry-now world. One of the new-tech tools I had blogged about is twitter, which gives people an opportunity to feed information out to subscribers' mobile devices, thereby alerting them "in the moment" that news is happening rather than when the daily is delivered at 7 a.m. Of course, that "in the moment" news that you get over twitter is limited to 140 characters, which is called "micro-blogging." I like to think of it as fast food for the brain. Want the fuller, healthier version? You'll find it on our Web site once it's fully developed, and on your doorstep at 7 a.m. So, you may wonder, why haven't we ramped it up faster? Twitter has a place in all that ... Please go to twitter.com and register as a user. Then you may start following us at WmsptSunGazette. If you have a mobile device, you may sign up for instant alerts, and we'll try to keep you abreast of breaking news and flag for you stories we may find of interest. I look forward to watching our online community grow!
