May 15, 2010 - Chris Masse

Welcome to all those who might not be able to make it to Bowman Field for today's annual Backyard Brawl and are following it through this web site.

Should be a great day of games between four of the district's most traditional programs. The first game features Loyalsock (13-3) and Williamsport (7-7). Stephen Stopper will be pitching for Loyalsock against Williamsport ace Kyle Schneider.

Loyalsock could be rolling the dice by not throwing Gabe Noyalis, but Stopper has pitched well and if the Lancers win than Jeremy Eck is in good position to make a run at the championship.

Williamsport desperately needs a win here, coming in on a five-game losing streak. The Millionaires are defending their championship and need to win at least three of their last six games to reach the playoffs.

A year ago Dr. Masse did something that he usually doesn't do and accurately predicted how the tournament would play out with Williamsport beating Montoursville in the final.

This year I'll go with Loyalsock edging Williamsport and then Montoursville nipping South in the opening rounds with the Lancers capturing the championship in a hard-fought game under the lights tonight.

More to come as the starting lineups are being announced. The sun is shining, four quality programs are ready to is good.
