second-inning montoursville-south update

May 15, 2010 - Chris Masse

1:06 p.m.: Carpenter caps an impressive 1-2-3, 11-pitch inning, recording his second strikeout. It's early but this looks like it might be shaping up to be a pitcher's duel between two promising young players.

1:10: Coach Shawn Finn as always is intensely focused on each pitch. That intensity and attention to detail is a big reason South has put together 10 straight winning season's during Finn's tenure. Finn is doing one of his best coaching jobs this year, leading the district's youngest team to 12 wins.

1:17: Caleb Catherine misses hitting a RBI double down the left-field line by inches. He draws a walk a minute later to load the bases with two outs.

1:20: Ranck records his fourth strikeout, pitching out of a bases-loaded jam. South has left four runners, three in scoring position, in the first two innings, something that could come back to haunt it as this game continues. We remain scoreless after two.

Montoursville 00-0 1 0
