| | 3rd-inning Montoursville-South updateMay 15, 2010 - Chris Masse1:26: South's Kyle Eck shows why he is one of the area's premier young catchers, throwing out Derek Schmack trying to steal second for the inning's first out. Eck's play looms large a minute later when Aaron Russell singles to right field. 1:37: Alex Carpenter battles back after going 3-0 with one out and the bases loaded, retirning the next two batters on a fielder's choice and a strikeout, as South leaves the bases loaded. Now Montoursville is leaving runners on base and it's looking like whoever gets the early lead will be in really good shape. Carpenter's third-pitch strike was a beauty, a knee-buckling curve. And Eck's play behind the plate is really huge now. 1:44: Pitching depth could be key in this one. Ranck works a perfect bottom of the third but is at 55 pitches while Carpenter enters the fourth of a scoreless game at 57.
