Montoursville-Loyalsock 4th-inning update
May 15, 2010 - Chris Masse
7:50 p.m.: Brian Greer is the fastest runner this reporter has seen on a baseball field this season. The senior center fielder hits an infield single down the third-base line and is at first almost as soon as the ball is scooped up. Could it be the start of a two-out rally?
7:52: Did I mention how fast Greer is? Metzger, another speedster, hits an infield single after Jackson Person nearly makes a great play behind the second-base bag. Greer scores from second on the throw to first. Montoursville's speed has produced three infield hits and is a huge reason this game is now tied 3-3. What a game. Gotta love the old-school rivalry and the way this game is going back and forth.
7:57: This game is like a heavyweight title fight. Good stuff.
7:59: Sophomore Dalton Young is a catcher by trade but is developing into a solid first baseman. Young starts the inning with two nice plays, one in which he takes a hit away from Jordan Powell and then next by making a nice scoop of a low throw.
8 p.m: I sound like a broken record but did I mention how fast Greer is. The center fielder shines defensively now, making a spectacular diving catch to rob Kyle Winton of a two-out hit.
Montoursville 101 1--3 5 0
Loyalsock 201 0--3 4 0
