Dave Thompson came to the Sun-Gazette as a reporter more than seven years ago. A long-time music lover and musician, he immediately dove into the area's blues scene, covering Billtown Blues Assocation events for Sun-Gazette and performing in those events both with his former band, the Dirty Bird Blues Band, current band (and 2010 Billtown Blues Challenge winner) Miz Ida and the All-Nightas and as a guest musician. He has been playing blues harmonica for more than three decades. He formerly lived in Rochester, N.Y., where he was a member of the Last Minute Blues Band, the Bone Shakers acoustic duo, and an early incarnation of new wave blues rockers Nerve Circus, among many others. When he's not playing the blues (or working at the Sun-Gazette) Dave can usually be found hovering over his Weber grill.
