Enough

December 30, 2012

What a terrible tragedy in Newport! Enough is enough! After mourning the loss of 20 innocent little kids, we as a nation have to say enough is enough! How many more innocent children, mall patrons,......

I beg to differ with the folks that say that these latest mass shootings were done with legally obtained weapons. The Sandy Hook shooter had been turned down twice for buying a firearm and the shooter of the New York firefighters was a convicted felon that by existing law should not have been in possession of a firearm. The most important issue here is not the weapons themselves, but the mass reasoning that would guide so many towards commiting such dreadful acts in the first place. Where is the source of these peoples miscontent and why do they wish to shock the world with such dasterdly deeds? The world has always been a dangerous place and wise people prepare

I admit I didn't read the entire letter, but I did read two parts of it. The first sentence and the last sentence. My comments are, it was Newtown, not Newport, I think that's important to know. Secondly, you're right, we need less guns in the hands of criminals and the insane. We need more help available to the mentally ill. But how do we keep criminals from getting guns? That is the trick isn't it? It seems impossible.

"With freedoms comes responsibilities. When we ask our Government to limit our responsibilities, we lose our freedom."

That happens when people abuse freedoms, that happens when an outside force threatens our very existence. That happens when people succumb to their fears over reasoning. That happens when people only rely on individuals and shun community.

"That happens when people succumb to their fears over reasoning."

You mean like your childish fear of guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens all the while refusing to blame the criminal that misuses one. Is that the kind of "lack of reasoning" you're talking about?

Yeah, Ritty, that IS the lack or reasoning he's talking about. But who ever said Chuck reasoned?

More like your paranoria that you are being targeted, that someone is going to gun you down at the supermarket, the school, office, your home at any minute now. It is fear that blocks out reasoning. You fear that our moral compass is broken and not repairable. You fear that not enough guns are available for you.

Another childish attack.

CMReeder-"Another childish attack."

Says the man who has posted 'how are you moral holding a bible in one hand and a gun in the other' 7 times on different threads.

That's YOUR fear, you nitwit. It's YOU and your ilk who take isolated incidents and assign that behavior to the entire gun-owning population.

And again, you've broken your own new record for hypocrisy. Pointing out "childish attacks" from other people when you are BY FAR the most prolific user of that tactic?

What an absolute fool you are.

A question is not an attack using an attack to avoid answering the question is childish.

Your fear is used more. We need more guns, we need to get more guns into mor hands. We need more armed personnel everywhere we go in public. The only way to stop a guy with a gun is another guy with a gun. This shooting is a wake up call for more guns. You guys fear the wrong people with guns. You fear you will be without guns and have stockpiled weapons and ammo. You have more fear than I do.

Question: why do you call the cops when you have someone breaking into your house, robbing you, or even attacking you?

Answer: cuz they have authority and ........guns! I highly doubt anyone would call the cops in those situations if they were armed only with authority or a club! Guns are protection! A criminal isn't running away from a cop cuz of authority....criminals laugh at that they don't care about jail! But being shot....that's a different story!
