RMiller -- "the heart of an individual, not the type of weapon of choice."
I agree with your entire statement but i would add two words to the small quoted section. "and mind" > "the heart and mind of an individual, not the type of weapon of choice."

Spike,
There isn't an "in between truth" if you stop and think about it. While the Constitution does have some areas that have, IMO been erroneously interpreted...truth is truth and it generally doesn't fall in step with compromise. The right to bear arms is telling and it is perhaps the reason there hasn't been a win for anti-gun legislation. The 2nd Amendment leaves little wiggle room. That being said, we have allowed legislation to add to it, as opposed to simply reading it as in English 101. Self defence is a right, not a privilege. That premise, however....clearly is abused, but again...it speaks to the heart of an individual, not the type of weapon of choice.

Spike, apparently your pantries are in a bunch and do not get the pun. I am almost positive that Phil doesn't need your 'bare' arm to wrestle.

Not counting the amount of guns it takes to protect Obama...but hey...like Darlin said...it's his tail, not ours and certainly not the dear souls that died that day.

No laugh-in , it's bear arms, bare arms are seen in warm weather. Sorry, I'm with Phil.Just funny after reading all these posts. bottom line, the truth lies somewhere in between.neither side is completely correct. BTW, the US Con and Amendments pass to the states through the 14th. The 4th changes in part every few years.

I meant either, it still is a choice. Rolling up you sleeves and pulling out your gun could have the same consequences. Who is Larry the cable guy?

“My take on what Phil is stating is that we are given the right to bare arms and it is a choice as to whether one uses or abuses it.”
LaughIn, do you mean like Larry the cable guy bares his arms?
Sorry, I just couldn’t resist that one. Of course we know you meant to bear arms.

CMReeder, so you wish to prove a point? My take on what Phil is stating is that we are given the right to bare arms and it is a choice as to whether one uses or abuses it. I endorse chain gangs, put criminals to work.

Hayes..I can't tell if your comment is sarcastic or literal. But around here, our Police Dept keeps shrinking. So...our Police Dept isn't getting very far in their valiant efforts to protect this particular city.

The only gun control that makes any sense at all is severe punishment for using a gun when committing a crime.

rmiller: Having been a health care professional for 40+ years, I feel I am fairly well versed in medical terms and terminology. Your reference to "scapular" has no connection to the way you're trying to use the word. Scapular is a form of SCAPULA...which means shoulder, or more specifically the shoulder blade. It has no connection with the head or the brain.

We also must remember our corrupt media who only chooses to stand side-by-side with our dictator on their continual reports of what the guns have done to this country. There have been many stories of armed citizens/off-duty policemen who have thwarted an attempt at a mass killing with their own guns, but this is NEVER reported by our media. You need to be smarter than these people and dig deeper to find the truth. The media only reports what they want you to know. The are up Obama's butt carrying him and protecting him at all costs. Such a disgrace!

Excellent letter Virgil. Our hypocrite in chief has also ordered many of drone strikes that have killed hundreds of innocent children. That was fine with him. Yes he supports partial-birth abortions and infanticide. That is perfectly fine with him, but when he has a chance to advance his radical agenda to disarm America, he pretends to cry and pretends to care about those children who were murdered. He also pretended to care about those Hurricane Sandy vicitims too since it made him look good. Everything our dictator does is only for his political gain and to advance his radical agenda. He cares about only 1 person - HIMSELF

"New gun control legislation coming from the guy that has hundreds of highly armed secret service agents protecting him and his family twenty four hours a day is hypocracy at its best"
We all have "highly armed" individuals protecting us 24 hours a day. They're called police, and I doubt any pending gun control legislation will effect them, as they pretty clearly are a "well regulated militia".

...A (supposed) "statistic" that couldn't POSSIBLY match the number o' children you "good Christians" IGNORE...AFTER they've been carried-to-term by a Mother who can't provide for them.
You folks have some really-odd ideas about making people "pay" for their "mistakes"...er, "gifts from God".

"Then, lets start with banning anything that can potentially inflict harm"
I wouldn't say that Relene. Look what the Bible, Fox "News", and Rush Limbaugh have done to your brain. You're a quivering pile of psychotic energy, that should be committed to a mental health facility. Still, I wouldn't be in favor of banning those things.
BTW, before the election you said your deity was going to select the winner of the election, and you would support that decision. What happened? Are you playing for the other team now?
