What is bad for business? The blind eye, the mess left behind, the media, the 'jack wagon' on the loose, the acceptable community we have become for crap such as this and the wooing the mayor will go through to insist his city is safe. No it isn't! Just ask Paul Harvey where you can go, commit murder and get away with it....UNBELIEVABLE :( The landlords and college need their money.....so how about you 'jack wagons' leave town with your illegal weapons (guns and drugs) and skip on down the road with your ACCESS charge cards....

...You mean, besides allowing T-Bagger types running-free...dispensing with whatever fantasies/conspiracies they can dream-up??

"Right now we're having problems because there's a lot of inaccurate information floating around on social media. We want to encourage people not to spread rumors. The worst thing that could happen would be if the wrong person was demonized for a crime they did not commit," he said.

"Every one of those rumors on social media networks we follow up on, and when they're not true we end up wasting our resources," he added. "We're following all the leads as far as they will take us."

Mr. Lyon, of course, this is all about you and your business. If you're so concerned about materials left behind (consider weather) be a good citizen and go clean it up. Problem solved.

It is sad that so many of our youth have no coping skills. They see absolutely nothing wrong with shooting one another. It says much about the value of life, expectations for the future (personal), the glorification of violent role models in pop culture (often in the entertainment industry) and the disintegration of the nuclear family. These are all fixable, but they are not fixable by government. I believe that until we increase the value of the nuclear family which would lead to better parenting and a desire to shy away from bad influences, we will continue to see more of this. While these things will not affect me personally, nor most here, it is our duty as caring humans to better our society and give our youth some light at the end of the tunnel that they can strive for and attain.

How many more people have to die before the city starts taking serious measures in an attempt to deter shootings, such as cameras, increased street lighting, and STOP CUTTING COPS!?

To JustSomeGuy -

It's funny you should ask because I say this phrase all the time, I don't know if it caught on or what because I've never heard anyone else use the term until recently when..everyone on here started saying it. A Jack Wagon=loser.

As far as what the Access Card has to do with it, I think he was trying to imply that all criminals are on welfare..so far from true.

Hopefully I misread this but did you just insinuate that the city of Williamsport doesn't care or is 'okay with' the murders that are occurring. With all due respect, when it comes to the crime and gun violence, I don't care about your business unless there's actual crime occuring there. If there is a mess to clean up, go clean it up, that is also the least of my worries and I'm a citizen of Williamsport and frankly I'm sick of all the crime and violence and I'm sure as heck not wooing the Mayor to tell me it's safe because I know better. If you're so concerned about your business perhaps you should start a neighborhood watch program. Listen I respect your opinion, I really do, and I don't want to see anything befall your business or a

elses business. But to a degree business is part of the issue when it comes to our Mayor. There is too much of an emphasis put on business, specifically the business the city is so worried about constructing, like the new Hotel next to Khol's, also near the building where I work. There is too much of an effort and emphasis on bringing people from outside the city into the city and not enough of an emphasis on the people who actually live here already. We've got so many people without jobs, so little jobs that pay enough to support families, and there doesn't seem to be anything being done about the violence that is actually helping. Unemployment has been suggested as a 'feeding point' to crime, well..Shopvac just had another massive permenant layoff..and I used to work there so i can tell you at least 25% of them won't be deterred from crime if they have nothing better to do. I now work security, I have no problem at all being a part of a neighborhood watch but emphasis has to b

I had the good fortune to be Terell's 5th Grade teacher. He was a fun, friendly kid who you could tell came from a family that loved him. I haven't seen Terell since then, and 10 years is a long time, especially in the life of a young adult. But, this is how I remember him and I would like people to know this side of him.

A nice testimony Mr. Bross. What is happening in Williamsport has become acceptable everywhere. No amount of gun control will stop these crimes from continuing, sorry. Were the Matthews, Terrell, the young fellow in Flannery Park, the man outside the bar all victims of circumstance? What draws a certain element to this town? Is it the willing 'girls', the easy access to money, a job, the cultural events, the arena, the college or theatricals? The citizens will only take what they accept as 'normal' and apparently this is. So I ask again wwhick, why does the mayors policemen count not add up? The. number was greater than 47 two monthes ago. What is the truth and what we all know about politics is that money talks louder than safety ever will.

EastEnd, possibly the government is only as strong as the people who elect them continually? John, the term 'Jack-Wagon' is a term of endearment I am sure the gunny knew all to well. I have often wondered why the military enforces unity and our governments reek of seperation?

Can someone please explain to me why this article went from reporting on the murder of a young man...to the reporting of a landlords complaints? Honestly, I read this article hoping to learn more about the man who had been murdered...he deserves to be remembered, as we all do after death. Instead, the article gives a vast majority of its focus to a landlord whose only concern is his business. The landlord doesn't even comment on the loss of this young man life...

...Okay, so he says it is a tragedy...but his focus is clearly regarding the mess left outside his properties...Basically, why am I not learning more about the man that Terell was? Why am I learning about the anger of a man whose concern is the effect this shooting has had on his business?
