"Had he not had a semi automatic rifle she might have stopped him."

Correct me if I'm wrong but..a bullet from single shot pistol or rifle is just as deadly as the one coming out of a semi-automatic.

Rick, I read that story. It's always best not to shoot someone if you don't have to, and since the teacher was unarmed he had no choice. Lucky for him the kid wasn't as crazy as he thought he was. The reason he didn't shoot the teacher was because he liked him and couldn't bring himself to shoot a popular teacher. If only all crazy people had this kind of ethics, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Had he not had a semi automatic rifle she might have stopped him. There was just a story somewhere where a teacher negotiated with the shooter. No weapons were used to disarm and there were no deaths.

Hey Al, Maybe you should read the news before you write letters. They had security alarms and cameras, but no guards. The security was monitored in the office and that's why the principal went to try and stop Lanza. If she had been armed she probably could have.

"Newtown, Conn., is an upscale neighborhood and I'm assuming like many other schools in the country that they have a security system in place."

Yeah, without looking up the numbers, it seems most of these mass killings occur in mostly white, "middle class" areas.

I'm wondering if more urban/inner city areas are avoided by these evil nutjobs because they are more likely to have armed security and even armed students.

Well Al first off I'd make sure they accually had security personel before writing a LTE wondering why they didn't do their job.
