The proof

January 22, 2013

Are we Americans going to allow gay marriage? You and I have been so apathetic that we have permitted rampant government sponsored abortions. These acts and the ilk are all sins....

You must have had rose colored glasses on because President Nixon did not give a crap about you or anyone but himself, he also opened the door for trade with China and started that ball rolling downhill. Also, President Obama's first name is Barrack. You disrespectfully used his middle name for some reason that you should ponder about. He is ending two wars, attempting to improve healthcare, attempting to increase exports, letting women make their own decisions (right or wrong in our eyes), and oh yes, regulate firearms!

Questions for the writer are....Do you continually pray like you claimed our founding fathers did? Do you still read you Bible as frequently as you did in school when you were younger? How is your personal relationship with God; do you abide in Him?

The Bible prophescies about these types of things; it shouldn't be new information. So with all these things going on that are outside your control can you say "it is well with my soul"?

First of all, it might as well have been Gavin. Secondly I didn't get passed the first couple of sentences before I decided to just stop reading because I could see where this was going.

So Yes, I am an American who is going to allow Gay Marriage because whether I agree with it or not, this is supposed to be a FREE Country and people are supposed to be allowed to do whatever they want within the parameters of the law and I don't believe Gay Marriage is something that anyone should be allowed to legislate.

I read somewhere that Obama has been selling kittens to use as fuel in South African chicken nugget mines. (Because chicken nuggets come from mines, you know, like gold nuggets come from gold mines.)

wwhickok,"Secondly I didn't get passed the first couple of sentences before I decided to just stop reading because I could see where this was going."

Not very tolerant of other people's ideas now are we. This man has been around a long time and seen a lot of things. You may not agree with him, but you could learn something from him.

About gay marriage; Gays have the same rights the rest of us do. What they want is something different. Marriage has always been between a man and a woman. They want to change that. They don't want what straights have, they want something different and to call it by the same name. It's just another case of the left trying to change the meaning of words to suit their agenda.

BTW, it's not passed, it's past.

Yes.

I knew this topic would be brought up. I knew it.

And yes we are going to allow those kittens for chicken nugget mines. I like KFC, they must use better kittens. I also read something about puppies. But I can't remember now, let me go to the FOX web page and I will get back to you.

"One which may be void of God in daily functions."

Which god? Shiva? Thor? Of course not, it's the good god of Abraham and it's promise of eternal torture if you don't obey. Thank goodness our country wasn't founded on this premise.

The letter writer suggests that America is in moral decline. Would he like a return to the time when we slaughtered the Native Americans and stole their land? How about a return to slavery, or a time when women were 'kept in the kitchen' and blacks could not vote?

enigma, on this issue, no, I'm not very tolerant because both yourself and the author are hypocrits.

I'm paraphrasing here but it says in the bible Do not judge or you will be judged. So who are we to judge others based on their decisions and choice of lifestyles? And thank you for feeling the need to comment on my comment for a vocabulary lesson. I knew that, I just said in wrong in my head while writing it and these comments are not able to be edited.

You say "they don't want what we have" how the heck would you know? Are you gay? Do you know what's going on inside the mind of someone who is? Or are you just assuming to know everything about everything?

Furthermore, I have no problem with the author or you disagreeing with Gay marriage Enigma. I have a problem with it being legislated. I'm happy married to a beautiful woman and have a beautiful son. But I also have no problem admitting I 100% support Gay Marriage. Not because I necessarily agree with the lifestyle but because I believe people should have the right to choose their own path. Just because it's not the path I think or you think they should be following doesn't mean we should prevent it by making laws against it.

Wow.I can only say that this particular LTE writer has the answer to how we should legislate, run the government, treat those who are not like him, etc.. Maybe he should spend a bit more time on himself and less on the choices of others.

Allowing gay marriage (which I oppose) has little to do with our decline as a nation. The continuous breakdown of the family is the leading cause. This breakdown has led to the welfare nanny state we see now. The longer a person or family is on the dole, the more comfortable they are with their circumstances, and their incentive to do better is reduced.

Yeah...believe-it-or-not, "straight"-people DON'T own the "patent" on marriage. It's not like your (typical) Old South "private" golf-courses.

From what I hear, they're (even) allowing people...with different "skin-tones"...to "intermarry", now!!!!!

SteelerFan: Interesting post. You talk about the continuous breakdown of the family. Please expand on that. I too, think that family is the foundation of any society.

Does your nanny state extend to other nations, coporations, businesses, states, cities, towns, communities? Does it include the military and veterans? Are you also counting yourself and all other Americans ? My guess is you are not.

wwhichok, When someone tells me they want to marry someone of the same sex, I assume they don't want to marry someone of the opposite sex. I think that is a reasonable assumption. How am I a hypocrit? Because I believe that words have meanings and that if we just change them whenever we want, we can never have a meaningful conversation? You may be right on one count. Maybe the government should never have gotten so involved in marriage in the first place. It was one thing when the government recorded marriange, but when they started regulating it and taxing it, they messed it up. Now those who don't even believe in the concept of marriage want the legal protections afforded it. I do not approve of the gay lifestyle, but I would be accepting of government recognition of a contractual agreement between gays or straights, who don't believe in marriage as a religious institution, which gives them the legal equivolant of marriage without destroying the traditional institution.

David, as you probably already know, 75% of black women now have children out of wedlock. I'm not sure of the percentage or other races, but it is higher than is used to be. When this happens, the children are typically raised in a single parent home or by the grandparents (been there, done that, btw). Absence of the father definitely hurts the family. These broken families are typically on some form of government assistance. When the children grow up, the cycle comtinues. Man, we could go on and on but you get the drift.
