Why is the Mayor trying to protect the taxpayers? They said from the beginning of this mess that it would not cost the taxpayers a dime to bring the Outlaws here.

And Obama said our taxes wouldn't go up and he believed that marriage was between a man and a woman... They're politicians. They lie. All the time. Every time they open their pie holes.

BornHere, while they 'said that', if the debt isn't paid, who do you really think is going to pay it? The Mayor isn't stupid either, he knows he is going to be forced to make the taxpayers pay it.

Wes, I think the Mayor should pay for it not the taxpayers, but of course that will never happen!

What about the rink itself? It seems it may become a liability for the city. And why would the Mayor need to make a point of saying he is not confused or mixed up? Perhaps future articles will shed some light on these questions.

This town has absolutely no room or desire for anything nice like hockey. Besides, you have to pay to see it. The townsfolk desire worthless black hole financial support for abused welfare programs and centers.
of course "pee" poor planning on the city government had hockey doomed from the start....

what a joke this mayor is, somebody please tell him that outlaws left town on monday, locking them out now is too late and means nothing. Maybe he can sell their jerseys on ebay ten bucks at a time to collect for the electric bills.

Will not miss this at all. We get a tax increase, the city gets more unexpected bills. Eric ,88- the idea may be nice, for some. The attendance did not support the idea. The Community Arts Center is not cheap. They manage to stay open. Most people probably are not interested in freezing to see a minor league team. the city could have an ice for kids to skate. We are the same city that can't keep pools open in the summer.

Out of curiosity, how many of the commenters here and on other city threads actually live in the city? Not that you have to live in the city to comment, but city initiatives create benefits for nonresidents and taxes for residents, so I sometimes wonder why nonresidents complain about things like this, Kohls, etc.

This mayor should stay out of the buisness sector. He consistently cost us money everytime he tries to help. Mr. Campana sometimes people are just not good at things, for you it is buisness.

Seriously who voted for this guy? He's protecting the taxpayers now? Should've been protecting them from the get go. In what world would someone want to watch a minor league hockey team play in frigid weather? Get real. And for all those who so enjoyed the ice...that's all this illustrious mayor needed to put in place. Would've been a lot less money and a lot less heartache.

Eric, you're wrong. First of all, As a CITIZEN OF WILLIAMSPORT (to oldbilltown) I do not have a problem with Khol's, I did have a problem with the hockey team. If it were an NHL Hockey team, or heck even an NHL affiliate like the Crosscutters are, with its own arena, it might have gotten a warmer welcome but only if the arena had been built in a time that financially allowed it on a realistic cost. I do have a problem with the city continuing to spend money to build things like Hotels and so on to get more 'visitors'. They should focus on improving what is already here for the people who live here.
As far as the citizens not wanting anything nice, Community Arts Center, Cinema Theater, Bowman Field, just to name a few are very nice, the CAC isn't cheap but TONS of people still utilize it. It's a great attraction. The outdoor hockey league didn't make sense. The CAC, Bowman Field, The movie theater, etc.. those make sense.

Open your eyes! Weldnpipe and Aruthanus suggested the other day that NO JOBS were brought here as a result of "the outlaws". They suggested all workers were "volunteers", ALL and NOT ONE paycheck was headed to anyone with the sir names matching the mayors coworkers. Checks were written, why doesn't anyone want to tell the truth?
