Enigma, I competely agree with you.

Also, when I say 'fact is', it's a habit, albeit bad habit, of mine to use the word 'fact' figuratively to sternly state an opinion. It's just how I talk..so I guess I type that way too.

Wesley, I do believe that I am right. Don't you believe that you are right? The difference is that if I am proven wrong, I will change my mind. That is rare these days. You also have a habit of stating that your opinion is fact. With this attitude, you will never be able to determine that you have been proven wrong. BTW, your opinion that I am wrong is not proof that I am wrong.

"The only way to stop criminals from having illegal weapons would be to make all weapons legal for everyone. I don't hear a lot of support for that."

That's because doing so, is basically equivalent to saying what criminals do is just fine. The same people saying legalize all guns for everyone, are the people saying legalize drugs. Instead of making it a crime to break the law, change the law and do away with the idea of crime.

Really that's just not a very good idea. Will more bans stop criminals? Doubtful. Should, as a result, we make it legal to 'break the law'? Obviously not. The only way to stop criminals is to start targetting them in the first place.

You know.. nearly every day, I watch Enigma make a comment on one of my comments, talking about how "I think people should think what I think" and how I supposedly think that everyone else is stupid..

Yet Enigma clearly is really talking about him/herself. It doesn't matter who the commentor is, Enigma is always right. I guess the sooner we learn that, the better off we'll all be /sarcasm.

Rick, I'm using the history that I've seen with my own eyes. If you had your eyes open you might see some of what I see, but you see what you want to see and believe what you want to believe. Don't feel sorry for me. I will be one of the few who will not be surprised by what's coming. I won't like it, but I will be ready. When I'm in that re-education camp, I'll still be more free than those of you drinking the Kool-Aid.

"Please show me where the communists took over the universities. I mean where did you come up with that one?"

By listening to what the people who run them say and do and by looking at what they produce. Many of them will even openly profess that they are Communists or Marists or Socialists, which are all the same thing. This was not the case before the 1960s. Of course none of this means anything because your history book didn't tell you.

Funny thing, I just watched a civil defense film from the 50s with Bert the Turtle promoting "duck and cover". Oh yea I want to go back to the 50s, such a fun time when at any minute you would be annihilated from the earth, or at least that is what our government was telling us.

Didn't you know Rick, science = Communism. Critical thinking = Communism. No point educating your kids, they'll become commies. I'm not sure where everyone lives that posts. Kids still ride bikes, swim in the pool, go out to the curb for the ice cream truck, play sports, etc. in my neighborhood. Technology is not a bad thing. Remember all the cool items on Star Trek? Now, we have them. We are the generation that developed technology, demanded "better" news coverage, etc. We are the people who wanted faster and better ways to accomplish tasks. We are the age that automated kids out of chores. We have dishwashers, car washes, snow blowers, fewer gardens, cell phones, and laptops. We are the same people who ended what we now call fun, morality and a better way of life. Maybe we were wrong. If you think so, own it.

Chuck,"Enigma I feel sorry for you."

I appreciate your feined concern, but not to worry, I will be fine living or dying under whatever comes along. My concern is for future generations who will never know the freedom that we had and let slip away. If you want your grandchildren to live with the security of slavery, rather than the challenge of freedom, then I feel sorry for them and you, for they will curse you for what you have done.

Another reason that the left doesn't want to go back to the 50s is that the 60s was when Cummunists took control of the universities. They had had a presence since the Bolshevic Revolution, but it wasn't until the 60s that they took over. Going back to ideals of the 50 would be a huge setback. The Marxist takeover of higher education and the decline of morals are directly connected and a return of morals would be a serious problem for the left.

Sorry there was very immoral people back in the fifties. There was drugs, the mafia, prostitution, Vegas was the Mafia's playground. Information was hard to come by there was no Internet, twitter feed, no cell phones. The fifties were quite innocent compared to know. In the fifties your respected those in authority; teachers, police, government, journalists. I love how those who harp back to better time lack these qualities in themselves.

The only reason for me to go back to that time is the people who are no longer in this time.

Decency has no time period. This whole "back to the 1950s" is a strawman the left thinks is easily beaten. Why would anyone be against being a good neighbor or having good morals? Because it does not lead to a government controlled society which is what Progressivism is progressing toward. We cannot go back, we must go forward into Communism. When you're going the wrong way, back is a good idea.

I grew up during the forties and fifties and I’m glad I lived most of my life when I did instead of now and in the near future.

The 50's-70's really sucked. Having to go outside and play, ride bikes all over, having to show respect for all adults, if people had guns we never saw them. All the neighbors knew us and if we were bad our parents knew before we got home. Had to do our homework by cracking a book, no computers, no calculators, had to learn handwriting instead of typing.Built treehouses and forts.Only got to watch 1 hour of TV a day and no video games. Yeah, those days really sucked.

Spike, I grew up in the 60's/70's. No rose colored glasses here. Just my perspective that our childhood playing outdoors, knowing all of our neighbors personally, and the generally more relaxed lifestyle was a whole lot better than today with all it's technology and no time for real human interaction.

The writer does not want any control over something he wants but certainly has no problem imposing what he believes is correct on others. This man is showing his age. Rick, this is wishing for the 1950's. Mike, did you go to school in the '50's or just watched to many "Leave it to Beaver" episodes on TV Land? Keep on those rose-colored glasses.

This gun control debate is getting interesting. Some people are rising against the NRA. I think the 2014 elections are going to be interesting.
