Recently Rep. Giffords and a grieving father testified about their views on gun violence. Both stated that guns must be restricted so these tragedies never happen again. And I do share their grief....

Even thou it occurs fairly frequently, you rarely read or hear any storys of people that their lives were saved by someone using a gun to intervene. Once the propaganda ministry set the course to get the people right thinking about the need for gun control, it became unfashionable to offer a counterpoint!

There are many more lives saved by guns every year than are cause death. The great unspoken secret among the gun-control elitists is that many of them have concealed carry permits, as do their armed bodyguards. Also, they work in buildings protected by metal detectors and security personnel that are armed. They remain safe and secure, but nobody else will. If you check FBI statistics, they speak for themselves, and it isn't what is being told on the tube.

Yes! The news media despises stories about people that pull guns on other people. They just don't seem to want to touch them, right?

What the heck is with you guys and hammers anyway? Listen this is not difficult. A guy is standing in front of me, angry for whatever reason, and he gives me a choice to teach me a lesson so to speak. He tells me he will attack me with a hammer or an assault rifle, This is not rocket science but I will take my chances with the hammer. A few days ago I asked if there were any mass deaths with a hammer and as of yet I have not heard of any.

I think that I would rather be carrying a firearm with a multi-round clip to protect myself. Why don't you go get a permit to carry a concealed firearm for yourself?

Rick, as I occasionally take time to read a portion but not all the LTE's on firearms and second amendment issues, I think the reason the hammer argument is thrown out is because there are more deaths each year from hammers than the politically inspired term of "assault" weapons. Reduction of the amount of high capacity clips, and semi-automatic, military looking firearms will do little to actually reduce deaths. The people that make these decisions to take out others and then sometimes commit suicide just want to go out in a blaze of glory and will find some means, whether it is to accomplish their purpose. Don't focus on the instrument of mass m

What a clever argument.

You can't control emotions therefore you can't control guns. nIt is more than obvious that you are emotional about your gun.

“And the real culprit is "emotion". Hate, rage, anger, lust, pride, even love.”

We all experience these emotions, but don’t permit them cause us to commit murder. Emotions don’t override reason, self-control and logic for normal people.

Yet we read about how crimes are plotted and planned. Criminals will scope out a target and study and time. There are crimes based on 'passion' but some are well thought out before committing.

Really, who? You shouldn't make an allegation like that without expecting to be asked to provide names.

Why do I bother. The media doesn't widely report incidents of people PROTECTING themselves with guns from others who are trying to harm them.

If gun control was about reducing crime, we would be enforcing the laws we already have. Gun control is not about guns, it's about control. If law abiding citizens don't have guns, the government can do anything they want.

I guess I'm not seeing the "hypocricy" in someone supporting an assault weapons ban, and also having a concealed carry permit. They seem to be two completely seperate issues. A concealed carry permit isn't for an AK47.

In all seriousness Josh, would you call someone a hypocrite if they supported continued restrictions on full auto weapons, and also had a concealed carry permit? It strikes me that if gun rights advocates found a couple Senators that had CC permits, they would actually like them more, not less.

Do you really believe that all the guns in America could stop the government if they wanted control? Gee, just a few years ago two raw amateur snipers virtually paralyzed three states. Just think what a well-trained special forces unit could do. Enigma, all you offer are silly talking pints, and fear-based hypothesis. No one is coming for your guns. No one cares. And if you have nothing to hide, you should have no issues with background checks. You enigma you.

A hypocrite, No. And why bring up full auto weapons, they've been banned for 80 some years? Thats not the issue at hand. Interesting fact, some models of revolvers hold 8 and 9 rounds, soon to be illegal in New York state. Hope that isnt what Schumer carries.

A whole lot more of us have saved someone's life with a gun than have saved a life with a "gun free zone" sign.

A bit of news........

Rep. Ron Waters (D-Phila) has proposed legislation that would require ALL law-abiding firearms owners to purchase firearms liability insurance. The bill also includes a provision that allows law enforcement officers to confiscate firearms if “proof of insurance” is not presented.

This is another liberal gun-grabbing attempt and a violation of the 2nd Amendment and Article 1, Section 21 of the Pennsylvania Constitution.

What will the libs come up with next?
