Requiring photo i.d. is still the law of the land in PA. It just wasn't in effect this last election. It will be for the primaries this Spring.

"Like the Republicans' tune is changing now? Funny how this was never a problem when the Republicans were in the majority and/or held the White House. All of a sudden they realise the political demographic realities are changing big time, making it more difficult to compete within the rules we've been using for decades or centuries in some cases. What to do, what to do.....hey, I know - we'll change the rules!" - JosephOtto

They were called lynch-mobs.

If Republican-dominated legislatures in PA, OH, MI, WI, MN and FL actually carry out the proposal to change the way presidential elections are held in those states in an effort to create a permanent Republican majority in the Electoral College, I suggest that they be careful of what they ask for." - Stanley Gould

"...ask for."??????
I'd say you're being a little presumptuous.
What I see them doing is DEMANDING a "win", every time.
With the proper parenting, most mature people understand you can't (possibly) win, every time.

A tax cut or a vote in an election.
No one would vote.

Simple solution to the voting debacle.
1. Receive entitlements OR 2. vote in elections.
choose only one option.

How about one person, one vote, period. Electoral College is an outdated system.

“as stupid as the idea of a state seceding from the country.”
Exactly. Example Texas. Let’s say that Texas secedes. That next summer a Cat 5 Hurricane comes ashore at Houston. What then? They wouldn’t have access to federal disasters monies. Maybe Rick Perry could start praying to his god for help?

Pointless letter. The Republican plans to try and leverage all the work they've done gerrymandering, are going nowhere, and the idea of a city seceding from a state, is every inch as stupid as the idea of a state seceding from the country.
We should redistrict the entire US using computers. So called "safe districts" for either party are BS. Voters should decide who's safe, and who goes.

The idea of secession is a ridiculous fantasy, be it for cities or states. Same for cities becoming their own states.

The right should be careful about this change and not for what Mr. Gould states. The electoral college is used only on the presidential election. Party controls shift even in states that have gerrymandered a strong hold. The change will put them on the losing side in the future. The shift in the electoral college is based on geography not votes.

I'm willing to bet that if Mr. Gould's party would suddenly find themselves being outvoted in national elections, his tune would change.

I love how the same people who said it was stupid and illegal for states to sucede from the nation, now want cities to sucede from the states. Of course, none of this talk would be happening at all if the Federal Government would just operate within the bounds of the Constitution.
