I think we have more cases of prosecuted priests than pedophiles among the Boy Scouts. You still confuse pedophiles and "gay".

Ask yourself an honest question. Would you feel more comfortable sending your son off on a camping trip with a scoutmaster who is openly gay or a man of the cloth.

"I think the Boy Scouts are an antiquated & silly organization. They've in the past rejected members who aren't of a faith"--Yoxtheimer

They do require the boy/man to believe in God/god. Their definition of whether it is the God as discussed in the Bible (triune Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) or god (spirit-only, pantheistic god, or even self) is very broad.

One who admits his sexual orientation in contrast to one who hides his. What is frightening is that you even ask the question. You have already decided who is the better person based solely on orientation and religion.

What is very clear in this letter is that anyone who is a homosexual does not have rights and as far as they are concern never should.

The LTE States: “Even morally stalwart churches such as the Roman Catholic Church, have "caved-in" to the social pressure of this cancerous culture."

What a foolish statement. The ‘good’ Reverend should watch MEA MAXIMA CULPA SILENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD on HBO. It exposes the abuse of power in the Catholic Church and a cover-up of Pedophiles who were priests. It covers the abuse that started a school for the deaf in Milwaukee, through the churches of Ireland, all the way to the highest office of the Vatican. The Pope did nothing. The Catholic Church allowed countless young boys to be victimized over the past 50 years, and played hush-hush to protect it’s priests.

Openly Gay. I would never allow my son to be alone with a priest. Nor a ‘man of the cloth’ who would fill his head with talking snakes, young earth stories, or an invisible space god who raped a virgin.

"because they will have ceased to be "morally straight""--Rev. Logan

I agree with you but unfortunately our society is abandoning a morality implanted in our very soul by God at our creation for a morality created by Satan and adopted by man-kind; this new morality is called secular humanism.

In this new morality, everyone is allowed to do what is "right" in their own eyes as long as they don't "directly" harm someone else (ie. the selfish morality). Also, this new morality has taken a rightful concept to free the oppressed but changed the definition of the oppressed. Instead of the oppressed being those who are murdered, raped, robbed, discriminated against because of sex, color, ethnicity, etc., the oppressed are defined as a man and a woman wanting to have a s ex ual relationship outside of marriage, two men or two women wanting to be accepted as marriage partners, or take from people in society that have worked hard to earn somethi

You guys are just not being honest with yourselves, that's why I asked the question, Preist were brought into the conversation so I threw it out there.

Okay how about having a grown man on a camping trip with 20 little girls? I would consider that a little creepy and I'm sure no mother would allow that. There is no difference.

There have been many abuses in the Roman Catholic Church, along with schools, clubs and other organizations where children can be present with adults. The Boy Scout's policy of "two deep leadership" and background checks have done a lot to reduce the posibilities of adults preying on/abusing children.

Many of these churches and other organizations should adopt similar policies.

Goggle -male participation guidelines - girl scouts.

Now if someone can tell me these guidelines will apply to gays associated with the Boy Scouts I have no problem with it. But we all know this will never happen. Again there is no difference.

Hard to adopt 'policies' when the Pope is covering up the rape of young boys. That's religion for you.

That is sin and law-breaking for you, not biblical Christianity.

Appropriate justice should be administered in the respective countries and if management levels in church end up in prison, so be it.

Prosecution of illegal activities (even in a church) will emphasize a need for righteous behavior and adherence to morality in society. It sets the proper example for all.

Call it what you want. It’s Religion. Since recorded history, Christianity has been committing atrocities in the name of it’s god. I find the more zealous the adherent, the more likely they are to commit atrocities in the name of their god, or in the defense of. And, Texas, it’s people like you that don’t have the guts to admit there are serious issues with your own brand or morality. Heck, the Catholic Church was granted statehood in the Vatican, only because it supported a fascist dictator in Mussolini. How about those good ole’ Westboro Baptists who picket the funerals of our dead soldiers and call them fags? They do this only because of the bible and their god. Period.

" Gays have traditionally "preyed" on younger persons as their victims when they have not been able to "conquer" similar aged, same sexed persons or those of similar interest."

What an offensive comment to make. About a week ago, a guy that owns a business in the Buffalo area that I have been to, was busted for molesting a girl almost daily, from the time she was 11, till she was 13.

Maybe the bigot that wrote this letter should go up to NY, find the girl, and explain to her that she wasn't actually raped hundreds of times, because the rapist wasn't a gay man.

Careful...the boogie man will get you guys. Never know who lives next door, they just might, well let your immature thoughts think about that. The letter writer is wrong and so are the bigoted comments made here. You people really need to grow up. And you wonder why people dislike organized religion. Just think on how the armed services declined since gays are now permitted freely. Yea, whatever. Boy this is going to be a fun day, as the extreme come out of the woodwork.

The problem with your flawed logic is that these fiends are committing such heinous acts because of the Bible, not in spite of it. Though you might say it is not biblical Christianity, there are countless other ‘Christians” who believe the bible grants them the power to call dead soldiers fags, or not allow gays to marry.

Yeah Class144, even Hitler hide behind a facade of Christianity when he rolled out his religion, the Third Reich.

The Biblical prophecies discuss false prophets that will appear on the scene. Because of this honesty, you should be more accepting of what it says. It is important that Christians are discerning and stand-up for truth instead of being lead astray.

So what are your thoughts on the issue the Rev brought up; do you think the BSA should open it up to homosexual leaders and boys?

“The Biblical prophecies discuss false prophets that will appear on the scene. Because of this honesty, you should be more accepting of what it says.”

I should? Now that’s certainly evidence that the bible is true. “False prophets.” Don’t ya’ think that statement is just a wee bit too vague? Now, if the bible had named these people by name, date of birth, weight, hair color, DNA, etc., I would be more accepting of it’s claims. I mean, if your god is all-knowing, it should not have been much of a problem for him to do this. Many of my colleagues are gay. My children have been friends with them since an early age. As one gay friend once told me; ‘what we do in bed is what 95% of the world does; we sleep.’ Yes, I think the BSA leaders should open it up to Homosexual leaders and boys. They have no desire to rape boys. Pedophiles rape children. There are men and women who are pedophiles. Perhaps you should read more on the subject to learn that Gay people are equal to you or I.
