With everything that's gone on in the world in the last 12 years, it took a hot dog eating contest to outrage you enough to finally send a letter to the paper?

Well look at that.... something that Chris and I finally agree upon.

Shallow minds see shallow problems. Obviously real issues are beyond this writer's grasp.

Mr. Matukonis does not understand the definition of gluttony if he confuses it with a simple contest.

So gluttony is a eating contest, who knew!

Maybe they should have a celery/carrot stick eating contest instead. That is with ranch dressing!

Some people just don't like to see others having fun! It was a contest, not an everynight binge! You do need to lighten up and get a sense of humor!

Mr. Matukonis accomplished an almost impossible feat in this forum. He got everyone to agree.

"In a nation where obesity is epidemic, surely Lycoming College can come up with a healthier activity to engage its students in than a hot dog eating contest." - Richard Matukonis

When you consider TOO-many college-students choose alcohol-poisoning, instead...I'd say gorging oneself (on hotdogs) is relatively safe.

I enjoyed this letter. It was so ridiculous that I had a good laugh. I know it's cruel to laugh as stupid people, but I just couldn't help myself.

I agree %100. Lycoming College, a Liberal Arts Institution known for its caliber and pedigree should stand for the quintessence of morality, class, and civility. A hot dog eating contest is just bereft of class and moral fiber; a terrible display of lewdness. How desensitized you all must be to find this to be acceptable behavior. You sicken me; condoning this while knowing of the precious tax dollars that are going to be squandered to unclog the latrines after this sausage fest!
