So true...back when I was a young man I was always taught to respect your elders and to never berate a newspaper. Granpappy always said with narrow eyes and a furrowed brow "boy, beratin' newspapers be an abomination of free speech!"

Journalistic license? Or do some call it spin?

These same people seem to be more than willing to surrender the First Amendment: Freedom of speech; freedom of the press; and the Second Amendment: Gun control for law-abiding citizens, which can lead to dictatorial power for the federal government." - Marlin D. Lilley Jr.

No...it's just a "counter" to what you FAUX Noise fans consider "news".

Another one of Shaman's inane comments. "Ya think" he will EVER say anything worthwhile? Take away Faux noise, porky limbaugh, bush, and a couple more of his favorites, and he really has nothing to contribute to ANY conversation.

With today's pro gas editorial not much wonder some feel the way they do. It is a republican control newspaper in a very republican area, I mean really, what do you expect? At least they allow us to tell them they are wrong.

Rick - "I mean really, what do you expect? At least they allow us to tell them they are wrong."
Sure, you "tell" us we are wrong all the time. What you never get around to is actually proving your claims. Liberals are always on the wrong side of history. Liberalism doesn't work.

Conservatism does not work either.

I support the SG's write to print whatever opinions that it sees fit. I also support anyone who wants to write in and tell the SG what they think of those opinions.

Rick the fact is that the conseritive ideology could effectivly get along without anything liberal.
On the other hand the liberal ideolgy cannot support itself without help from the other side.

See this is where the differences lie. I agreed that a previous letter lamblasting the paper for it's articles against Obama and his policies was wrongheaded. That this is what freedom of speech and press means. Then we get a letter like this which is bashing of the left and the right comes out and supports it. Which goes to show how much the right is bunch of back stabbers.

Mr. Reeder while I appreciate your candor on the subject the rest of your ilk did not respond in kind.
I offer my deepest apology if you felt stabbed in the back.

"This dependance on government for one's survival is nothing more than a scam to buy votes for "Progressives""
Unfortunately, it is more than that. It is an attempt to enslave the people. Free people rely on themselves. Slaves are totally dependent on their masters for their needs.

Chuck, that is apples and oranges. You supported the paper's right to voice an opinion and I applaud you for that, but today you 'bash' those of us who agree with the letter writer for voicing ours. Agreeing with someone you disagree with is not stabbing you in the back. I defend your right to your opinion, even when I disagree, and I would appreciate it if you would reciprocate.

rick424,"Conservatism does not work either."
Rick, Conservatism is what built this country. It took us from a handful of British colonies to the most prosperous and powerful, country in the world. It was the conservative belief that free people working together could accomplish more than any group forced together by government. It has worked very well and the country has only suffered as liberal ideas have moved in. Conservatism has worked and will work if we just get back to it.

You did not stab me in the back you stabbed a whole segment of the country in the back. Don't be yelling at them that all they are doing is trampling over your rights by trampling over theirs.

"This dependance on government for one's survival is nothing more than a scam to buy votes for "Progressives""
Really? The why did 8 out of the 10 states with the HIGHEST percent of zero liability tax filers bite on Romney in such a big way? Why did 7 of the ten states with the LOWEST percent of zero liability vote big for Obama?
Is the meme, or the people that continue to spread it, that are impervious to facts?

Chuck, Capitalism and individual freedom not only built this country, it supported and continues to support liberalism. Since you vehemently disagree with this how about enlightening the rest of us on just how it happened? And not with another one of your usual one liners.

And 13 of the top 15 states with the highest percentage of welfare recipients were Obama states. Remember Hayes, we had this conversation before and both agreed the numbers involved are miniscule and have little bearing on election outcomes. Why do you keep bringing it up?

I'd agree with the first part Phil. The free market in human beings actually had a great deal to do with America's early success.
