A thorough LexisNexis search identified absolutely no instances of high-ranking Republicans ever suggesting that Mr. Clinton was obsessed with bin Laden, or did too much to apprehend him prior to the bombing of the USS Cole in October 2000.

Clinton tried to kill Bin Laden multiple times, narrowly missing him with an airstrike in the Sudan. Clinton created the position of counter terrorism czar. Clinton, by executive directive declared terrorism a national security matter, which no previous US President had done. The CIA Bin Laden Unit was created on Clinton's watch (then disbanded under his successor). When Clinton was leaving office, he stressed to President Bush that terrorism in general, and Bin Laden specifically hould be considered the highest priority.

At the time, many Republicans said Clinton was obsessed with Bin Laden.

Who said Nixon's greatest crime was wiretapping a phone? Did this FL couple you mentioned happen to be elected officials? Did they break into Gingrich's office and plant a bug in his phone, or did the call in question come over their police scanner? Is it really "tapping a phone", if the moron in question is trying to have a "private call" on a publicly accessible police band?

Nixon also sent thugs in Sept 1971 to break into Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist's office, and steal his patient file, to look for dirt they could leak to the press.

The stuff Nixon did is even shocking today. Someone mentioned Hunter S Thompson. Thompson once said of Nixon, he was so crooked, he needed servants to screw his pants on every morning, and that pretty much sums it up.
