Magical thinking

February 16, 2013

The Tea Party Movement consists of people who believe in individual rights, equality of opportunity and fiscal responsibility, but to hear some tell it, the Tea Party wants us to go back to the days......

"And to think I didn't believe you had a job."

I was afraid to tell you. I didn't want your whole world to come crumbling down.

The Tea Party is near death. Unless you form a third party, your candidates will not win primaries. You will not receive GOP funding because you are causing them to lose elections. The Tea Party may have begun with a seemingly good idea. The crazies destroyed it. If you think the power of the Tea Party is still significant, wait until the mid-terms. You will retain a few but will lose many.

I used your own example in reply.

Aren't there some kids on your lawn that need yelling at?

Wow, Back, in 1974 I spend seven months on the gulf coast of Mississippi. Had a friend in Meridian and we would go there sometimes on weekends. Traveled the states of MS, LA, AL, FL, and GA. Agreed, loved it, absolutely great people. In fact my wife and I did a 3 week road trip the year before Katrina. Small world.

@Jerry, agreed. Very nice people. We lived just east of Tupelo for a few years. We would still be there but the better half wanted to move back to be closer to family (specifically the daughter).

If somehow you've twisted in your mind that getting proper nutrition to expecting mothers is SOMEHOW the same as the common ownership of the means of production, then you are way, WAY down the rabbit hole buddy.

I'm glad you've heard of Rhode Island, a lot of folks get it confused with Long Island. I do believe RI is indeed smaller than Lycoming County, but they get two votes in the Senate, so you can decide for yourself which is better.

I'm from RI originally but moved away about 15 years ago. Since then I've moved around a bit, my work has brought me to CT, MA, NH, VT, ME, NY, NJ, NC, SC, FL, MS, LA, OK, TX, CA and PA.

If you've got something witty to share about any of those, please go for it.

Communism is a revolutionary socialist movement to create a classless, moneyless and stateless social order structured upon common ownership of the means of production, as well as a social, political and economic ideology that aims at the establishment of this social order.--Wikipedia

Raise your hand if you think we've got a classless, moneyless social order structured upon common ownership HERE in the United States.

I find that those on the left are a lot better at deception and changing the definition of words than they are at defending their positions.

“It would appear, Sir, that you are ignorant to the definition of the word Communism.”

Maybe you should define it for us Jerry.

Jerry from the Socialist State of Rhode Island: Isn't Lycoming County larger than RI? Where to start? Oh yes: Communism is a government where all citizens are, and share equal. Doesn't work in that those in control feel they deserve more. Stalin starved millions by feeding the "favored". Try not to forget E Germany, or Poland, Hungary. Try not to forget Cuba, or the Cuban Missle Crisis. It is you RI that doesn't understand. You are either too young to understand. Or: You are one them.

Hey. Sup.

I think history will decide if OWS was (is?) successful or not. OWS mainstreamed the terms 99% and 1% which really laid the ground work for Romney's 47% comments. IMHO if Romney doesn't give the 47% speech, he becomes President.

We ignored Sen McCarthy when he warned of Communist infiltration in the US Govt and Hollywood. 60 years later we have Obama. The joke is on us. The Tea Party people haven't died. We're still here. Ignore us? The joke will be on you.

Yea, some on the left tried to compare the OWS movement to the Tea Party. Those on the right weren't buying it and then it became obviously apparent that they had nothing in common.

FtR, I like the Rand Paul's of the Tea Party, I loathe the Sarah Palin's and Glenn Beck's.

The problem with OWS is they didn't have any direction and try to become a political force like the Tea Party did. Without direction or purpose people lose interest and it just falls apart.

Gavin, OWS had the same problem, they got hijacked. When I went to NYC and saw what was going on, I just shook my head. Seemed like every single cause was there. What is funny, there are some that say OWS and the Tea Party had similar views in the beginning.
