Thanks, John!February 17, 2013Anyone who comes into the South Williamsport branch of the U.S. Post Office on West Southern Ave. has certainly seen John behind the counter for many years.... Showing 4 of 4 comments

Very nice letter, indeed. It's easy to criticize the U.S. Postal Service, but it's still a bargain to send a letter cross-country and still a pleasure to meet dedicated public servants such as John. If only the letter had been published BEFORE the Jan. 31 retirement date so people could have hand-delivered their good wishes as the author intended.

Nice letter Steve, John is quite the character I remember he became frustrated with something when I was at the counter and he said he was going to go postal, I look at him and he said he was joking. I remember the guy before him was there along time back in the 60s and 70s when my mom would send me down to get a book of stamps down thru the Super Duper field where we play baseball, growing up on Central ave. Stamps then were 7 cents then boy how time flys.

John is a real character, and a pleasure to deal with. It's not the same without him there, but I wish him a happy retirement.
