Misleading

February 21, 2013

The Sun-Gazette’s continued attacks on Obamacare — like the recent cartoon calling it “snake oil” — mislead people and keep them from finding out the very real benefits of the Affordable Care Act,......

Been away for some time, enjoying my new granddaughter. I see some things haven't changed. I don't believe anyone wants to see any individual without health care. Not one of us has the answer, however. To be sure, no individual including the author of the AHA, or its co-authors know what that quagmire of laws/regulations entail. This much we do know. This is not the answer for America, considering the economic ramifications impaled upon employers. Health care and affordable health care is a misnomer.

Hayes, wouldn't your time be better spent learning the difference between an Automatic and Semi-Automatic weapon?

FYI, My post was as ridiculous as Sham's. I was making a point in that.

"Chris - "No wait, the right says EVERYBODY has access to healthcare. Sure they do. They also "have access" to Ferraris, Rolls Royces, and Gulfstream private jets, and it's about as likely they'll be able to pay."

Glad you finally admitted that you understand conservatives. That sentence I quoted above is exactly the way conservatism works."

Thank you so much for clarifying that the right wing position on healthcare is every man, woman, and child for themselves. If you can't pay for it, hurry up and die, because it's a real downer looking at you.

Wow, what an idiotic, waste of space post. Wouldn't your time be better spent trying to understand what the '94 Assault Weapons Ban was all about, since earlier today you thought it was still in effect, then said you didn't know what you were thinking about and it wasn't in effect, but you supported it, then you said you were against it. All this in the span of a few minutes.

In the words of President Reagan, "here we go again" with Sham's inane comments! You would think he could come up with something new from time to time. But, we have to remember - liberalism IS a mental illness and apparently Sham doesn't take his meds. He is so knowledgeable on Limbaugh, he must be listening to his show EVERY day and then spends the rest of his time watching FOX.

I don't think anyone should waste their time debating the "king of cut & paste", because Shaman is an idiot who has NEVER began a comment with his own views on the sujbect at hand! Sarcastic, rude remarks are the only think he is capable of making and 99% of the time they don't make any sense at all! Cut & paste, cut & paste, cut & paste......even a monkey could be trained to do more than that!

I’m old enough to remember when medical insurance was usually for major expenses and we could afford to pay for everything else out of pocket. That was before unions and government got involved to fix things.

National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ruled health benefits subject to collective bargaining continued employer provided health care. Employer-provided health insurance costs increased due to tax incentives to employer. 3rd party payer (employer), routine care coverage caused rising health care costs as 3rd party (employer)lacks motivation to control costs. 1965, Medicare passes and the federal government becomes the largest single purchaser of health care. There are many more causes at the state level also. How many more do you want Shammy?

"Exactly WHICH "government intervention" made that happen??!!!!" Shammy, the rise in health care costs can be likened to a snowball rolling down a hill and growing larger with every rotation. The rising health care costs did not start all at once, it was over a period of years with the passing of each new regulation and requirement. This all started in 1932 when Blue Cross was established. The AMA & AHA lobbied for their exemption from normal insurance regulations and taxes giving Blue Cross an advantage in the marketplace creating unfair competition. The Feds established “cost-plus” and 3rd party reimbursement procedure utilizing “reasonable and customary” versus actual cost/inflationary health care costs. Creating a slow rise in so-called “reasonable and customary” costs. Then in 1942 the IRS ruled health insurance a “legitimate cost of doing business” and not taxable income for the employee institutionalizing employer-provided health care. 1948 – National La

Hi ww, I' d have to disagree with the notion of people agreeing that Mr, Shaman is/ are the problem... I'm sure you've heard by now that President Obama was re-elected and that progressives/liberals did very well overall.. that means people agree with Shaman, not disagree.

I think most of us can agree it's people like Shaman who create the problems that exist in this country. Because they think they know everything..but in reality..they're just f****ng old and stupid. Not to say being old makes you stupid, because it doesn't.. he just happens to be old..and he's definitely not remotely as smart as he likes to pretend to be.

You consider 12+ years a "long time"?????

Between 1995 and 2000, the premiums I'd paid (to self-insure) went-up $30/mo.

From 2000, thru 2003, my premiums went-up $100/mo., for EACH ONE of those four years!!!! What cost me $145/mo. ('95), went-up to $175/mo. (by 2000), and increased to $575/mo. (in 2003)!!!!

Exactly WHICH "government intervention" made that happen??!!!!

For your information, my mother who was going to turn 80 was seeing her doctor to have a knee replacement done and the nurse told us that if Obamacare was in place and if my mother was already 80, her surgery would not be paid for because under Obamacare someone 80 years old has no need for a knee replacement because their quality of life does not warrant it. My mother owns a business and is working 50 hours a week, not curled up on a rocking chair all day. Who is Obama to tell us what care my mother can have and what care she cannot have. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE, Obamacare is no good.
