The passage in question does not, I believe enable the government to confiscate weapons or ammo, but it does protect the privacy of someone who needs medical help and legally possesses and maintains firearms. I am not an attorney and really cannot make a definitive assessment of the text in question. But, you can bet your boots that the lawyers will fight it out and some snivelling govt turd will tell us all about it.

That is completely false. The language in the ACA, has ONLY to do with the ACA. Period.

The funniest part is it was almost certainly inserted to placate the right wing conspiracy theorists in Congress. Don't think there are any? Well ask Mitch McConnell about the inquiry he sent to the Dept of Defense asking if they were going to grant veterans benefits to Guantanamo detainees.

New legislation can overrule prior legislation although it must specify that legislation, which the proposed bill does not. What the ACA does do is make several of Obama's executive orders illegal. We don't need Obamacare to protect us from the gun grabbers, we have the Second Amendment for that. I think you've got it wrong Mr. Gardner. This amendment ONLY relates to the implimentation of Obamacare, not the entire Federal Government: "(2) LIMITATION ON DATA COLLECTION- None of the authorities provided to the Secretary under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act shall be construed to authorize or may be used for the collection of any information relating to........." Not that we're not still doomed, mind you!
