"He added that actions taken by council with the nonprofit do not add expenditures to the city or to Lycoming County for the $26 million overall housing plan."

We have heard that before...

"They will be vetted by my administration and council," Campana said Thursday night." WOW Gabe, what a brilliant idea! Good to know you're not going to have them vetted by someone else's administration! - Although I do pray for the day... Williamsport finally moves into the 21st century, removes the shackles from our counsel, and elects a competent City Manager.

I'm confused... is the city going to own this property? If not, why would the management company be required to meet with the administration? Does the local Burger King franchise have to meet with the city every time they hire a manager?

He is probably in cahoots with these people like he was with his buddies in the hockey business!

All the actions taken to move this project forward leave a bad taste in my mouth. Its another Kohls type project. The city secures large amounts of money in the form of grants to benefit outside companies. It says those townhouses are going to be market rate. I assume that means $1000 a month or more in rent. Seems none of these new properties will be taxed being somehow none profit. Sp we are securing grants that will not benefit any person living in this city, will lose additional taxes, and will be sending money out of the area for property management. There is a long laundry list of needs in this city where these grants and gas impact moneys would be better put to use. If some company wants to build housing on that property and have someone manage it then let them find the money just like most other companies.

Wmsptman, i said the same thing in a story posted a few days ago about the same subject. by building this site from the NY based company, this means no one in this area will have a job created for them to build it. the NY based company will be getting the profits and no one in this town will have a say about the managing of this property. it sounds fishy as if theres someone lining councils pockets again. why would you first of all hire an out of state person to manage this and build this property when lycoming county and PA are hungry for jobs and income.

First of all, it is not free. The grant money comes from somewhere. Second, how does this benefit Williamsport?

Instead of dumping all those bricks into the land fill. they might be crushed into something that could be used in other applications in the future.

"With some of these housing projects, the police department has been continually involved"... Please stop. We all like to make money but creating more room for trouble-makers is a huge mistake. Please consider donating the site to the Lycoming Habitat for Humanity for development into single family homes. It is the only thing that will save this city's future.

Google this outfit in NY. I understand their mission but I am concerned with who they will put in the housing. And will they be of our own population or will they be sending more trouble our way?
