The bottom line: The Penn State trustee's agreed to the $60 million penalty rather than await due process because they wanted to make the scandal to "go away". Just like Spanier and crew wanted the scandal to "go away" by ignoring it. In both cases this was a huge mistake. And, let's not delude ourselves into thinking that the NCAA has any altruistic intentions for all that money.
