Mr. Hughes, this is the world we live in today. The police are no longer about law enforcement. A major portion of their time is spent issuing fines on folks to keep the govt coffers going. It is a hidden tax and the police are the enforcers.

People are just trying to make a living and doing things the right way, then we got DOT out there looking for a reason to write a ticket. It's bad enough we work to pay for the lazy, then to give out BS fines is very aggravating. I work a lot of hours, I figure about 20 hrs a week go towards the lazy

If the driver had operated the vechicle as permitted would they have been fined?

To the writer, are you sure you heard the story right from the driver? I'm no expert but I've not heard of an oversized load with a tag axle up, being down would be the point. Are you sure the permit did not specify a set distance between the axles and when stopped the axles were spaced greater? That seems more likely to me. Jeff33, you crack me up once again! You have got to stop cleaning windows with your tongue!!! I gave you way too many FACTS about Magisterial District Judges and yet your OPINION gets spewed all over. In the end, rules of the permit need followed strictly; if you follow them; then no citations issued. Everyone cries when they get stopped for not following the rules.

A Judge goes to college for 4 years then goes on to LAW School and then practice LAW for years then runs for Judge or is appointed! Not some flunking that was a part-time cop in Duboistown and Old Lycoming!

Jeff33, please go out on the roadway and speed (or something in violation) past a Police Officer; make sure to get his attention first. When he hands you the citation, please tell him you will fight it; as the Judge he will file it with is not a real Judge. Please use that as your defense too, with the Judge you are now in front of. When you're done please post a letter on how you made out, so we all will know. You can decide if he is a real Judge or not. Your blatent contempt for LAW is a joke. I'm hoping its just a show for people to think you're some kind of rebel, without a cause; of course!!!

If I would break the law, a minor traffic violation or a summary offence and had to appear in front of a Justice of the Peace and was found guilty, I would appeal it to a REAL JUDGE because the J.P.s are usually ex-cops or firemen who always side with the cops. They are a waste of money and everything should go in front of a REAL JUDGE! Minor offences should go in front of the Cost of clerks like down here in Florida and if you want to fight it you go in front of a REAL JUDGE!

Well Jeff33, I guess once again your OPINION is FACT! I've had the pleasure of sitting in on Summary hearings at the District Judge and I've seen Police win cases and defendants win cases. So your opinion of the Judge always sides with the Police is highly false! You need to really spend your time researching facts instead of spewing that idiot logic that too often comes out of your mouth, or keyboard; in this case. This is the problem with the ill informed, like yourself. Once again, spend more time with facts and type something that is logical; because you show how special you really are.
