The gun debate

Bobby 2,I am by no means a parasite,I have le a very live life,worked since I turned 16 years old,and paid for my college education. I personally do have Life insurance,but I'm sure many of the families affected by gun violence do not. We are all made to pay at the bare minumum liability insurance to own a car, and some of you gun nuts have commented that cars are a deadly weapon.

If you can refer to me as "special" although I'm not clinically retarded I can equate you to a culturally stereotypical ******* even if you aren't. My point has always been be responsible and lock away your fire arms so children or deranged individuals cannot easily access them. With that said do I think it's something to be proud of to be a gun owner? No. You bought something at a store that is ostensibly a toy to you. It's like saying I'm proud of my smart phone as though I designed it. There isn't a whole lot to be proud of to being an American for that matter anymore. We have more people incarcerated then any industrialized nation we are behind educationally yet ahead in the number of people who believe in angels! So spare me your sarcastic pity because I don't share your love of guns you pathetic myopic twit!

Dan, come on now; that was so low even for you. I do own a truck, it does not have any oversize tires; it is all stock. I do not hunt, at all; although I enjoy eating deer but that is about it. Last time I checked my wife was not chained up in my basement, nor do I need to rape her! I do like the confederate flag, but I think that falls back to my childhood of watching the Dukes of Hazard! I know you Dan, so without saying more, I will end my words with this. Your a sad case, really!

Yoxtheimer, I really thought that you could not possibly say anythng more stupid than your first statement...and then you did. Did you really just suggest that all 'typical' Williamsport citizens are '********, with confederate flags who lock women up in basements, and rape them at will?'

First of all..Williamsport isn't some backwater West Virginian hillbilly-ridden town. It's a city, not a big city, but a city never the less. There isn't too many ******** that actually live here, not on a ratio basis anyway. Secondly, I am a Williamsport citizen, have been most of my life, I don't rape my wife and keep her chained in the basement (or any other woman for that matter) nor do I abuse her. I personally don't even hunt, I'm not racist, nor do I own a confederate OR American flag, that's not to say I don't support America by the way. Don't be so idiotic to generalize and stereotype an entire city.

The people who choose to ignore the logic and the reality that the real problem is Mental Health and how it is related to the purchase of guns and responsible or rather irresponsible ownership of them are nothing but self-righteous, Party-Blind wannabe-politicians. Ignoring the real issues, such as Mental Health and targeting guns. Using the real problems to attack issues that they have personal agendas for, such as banning guns and diminishing the 2nd Amendment. Because let's be honest with each other, you should at least have enough respect to do that; This isn't about creating a safer country, this is about getting rid of something you don't believe in or agree with; Guns. This is about a personal vendetta against and using tragedies to lobby for legislation that has no business in our country.

WHY does Homeland Security require 1.6 BILLION rounds of ammo, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm? They don't arm our local/state police, OR the U.S. military!

Better yet, WHY has DHS also purchased 2,717 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP) that are being retrofitted for service on the streets of the U.S.?

Guns, tanks, and drones, what IS going on? Is the America of our founding fathers dead or is it on life-support? They must be spinning in their graves.

So it would be okay if the crazy guy with a gun killed 10 people with a hangun that had 10 round magazine but 30 dead with an AR-15 with 30 round magazine is too many? Making certain guns illegal doesn't solve the problem. Use the brain god gave you and think outside the box!

Dan, please go hug a tree; that is being cut down!!! I feel sorry for those who do not own guns or even enjoy the opportunity to own them. My AR15 does not hurt you, nor do the many 30 round magazines; I own with it. It is a good release target shooting with my family/friends and teaching kids about the proper use of guns, who have never held one before. I've created gun lovers just by a couple hundred rounds and a couple of hours of fun. Stop spewing your anit gun rhetoric!

Banning Guns doesn't change that, nor will it solve the issues related to Mental Health. I'm not a doctor, I'm not a lawyer, judge, cop, etc, I'm just an every day citizen. I don't have the answers nor do I pretend to, I just know that banning guns won't solve the problem. My 1 year old is smart enough to know that; figuratively speaking (if he understood the concept of guns).

Don't blind yourself with emotional response. Look at the issue as it truly is, not how 'it makes you feel when tragedy strikes.' I've said before, you have to be responsible when voting, I know I'm not the only one that feels that way. When Gun Control is the same way, you have to be responsible when voicing an opinion or enacting a belief. You have to be 100% sure you're making the right decision and not a decision based solely upon an emotional response to a tragedy.

I'm not going lie, I expect more people to disagree with my opinion than agree with it. I am at peace with that; 90% of the arguements in these 'Gun Control' articles are ridiculous and this one is as bad as I've seen it yet. There was a good point made, that if our government was so 'mighty' we wouldn't be in Afghanistan right now. The bit Rick brought up about a woman losing a case because she feared for her safety and shot someone...are you kidding me? If I were a judge overseeing that case, I would gladly set her free. For one, if a woman feels that unsafe, I have to believe there is a reason, something about the 'suspect' is clearly sending her a major red flag.

The issue seems to always come back to "you don't need it" or "this is how I feel and I don't care who you feel" or "I don't own a gun so you shouldn't either". The whole argument about these shootings that have occurred as reason to ban guns.. THE ISSUE SHOULD BE MENTAL HEALTH! Banni
