When the author called the NRA "odious", he was revealing his bias.

When the author said that no civilian needs an AR-15 assault rifle, he was revealing his arrogance.

With similar thinking, no civilian needs to go to the theater.

Ban theaters and those people in Colorado would be alive today.

Erik, I am not sure, I am not a lawyer, but I am willing to bet if she pulled the trigger and killed a man because she thought he was going to rape her and he had no weapon, she might lose that case in court and end up in jail.

I love the part about the government having nukes, fighters and subs. If the gun haters where right about our government being so overwhelming in it's firepower that us poor stupid citizens could never resist, then why are we still in Afghanistan? We should have finished that job a long time ago. Our opponents there have none of those things. The final part of any war is on the ground with small weapons. Our government knows that, and that is why they want to disarm us. It will be much easier for them if we have only with sticks and rocks with which to resist.

rick424, You're right, you are not a lawyer, or you would know something about the law. If a woman has reason to believe that she is going to be raped, she may use deadly force against her attacker. Case law will show you that a woman has a much easier time showing that her use of a firearm was justified. In the politically correct environment we are in now, would you want to be the prosecutor bringing charges against a woman who was just trying to avoid rape? Neither would anyone else.

I think Rick was saying he would be okay with the women shooting the rapist after she was raped but not before. Or the rapist would need to have a gun to make it fair.

Erik, A real smart lawyer on the other side would make the case h**l for her I am sure. I am not saying it is right but all are innocent until proven guilty. My Zook, I feel this is good dialog, I don't see anyone calling anyone names in my discussion. Listen the gun issue is dead as far as I am concerned. What it is, it is, there we be little change, the government is not going to take away your guns, I am not going to change your mind as you are not going to change mine. At least until the next massacre, and there will be one, and then it will start up again.

Even the facts of the case aren't enough to convince a Republican that a person armed only with a bag of Skittles, should have the right to confront someone stalking them in a menacing fashion on a public street, without being shot dead.

So what you're saying is that the pending legislation is pointless and will have no effect. If so, why do you support it? I wish you were right. Many legislators have said that this is the first step. Feinstein has publicly said that she wants to confiscate all guns but that the votes are not there YET. They will continue to push legislation as far as they can until we are disarmed. The fact that there is not a total disarmament bill does not mean that is not the goal.
