"Sue Lowden, a Republican Senate hopeful in Nevada, has been widely mocked for earlier this week stating that, "before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say I'll paint your house."
Apparently liberals like Ole Jerr have no concept of barter, probably because they have little of value to trade with anyone.

"My bank is paying 0.1 on checking, 0.15 on Christmas club and savings, and 0.2 on a money market acct. Their highest CD rate is 1.5%, but that's on a 60 month CD."
Then support American business by investing in the stock market. You'll like the yields a LOT better.

Jerr "Oh, and forget gold, chicken will be the next currency."
That's Lazy's fault, a result of his coveted sacrifice to the great"Chicken God" in the sky.

"We are selling to support our debt and we are printing so much money, it is becoming funny money."
I think it's worth pointing out that when we sell our debt, we are able to do so are while paying extremely low interest rates. Put another way, if demand for our debt had soured then we would have to offer a higher rate of return to find buyers.
US debt is in such high demand because it is such a safe bet.

Please tell me what bank is giving 0.8 on savings!! My bank is paying 0.1 on checking, 0.15 on Christmas club and savings, and 0.2 on a money market acct. Their highest CD rate is 1.5%, but that's on a 60 month CD.

"We cannot lower interest rates anymore, because we are at "O". This is wrecking havoc on our capital markets, depriving us of money for our productive enterprises and growth, thus yielding no new jobs."
Last time I checked, businesses do capital expansions with borrowed money. Low interest rates encourage capital growth. If interest rates are low, it also provides an incentive for people to invest in the stock market (IOW businesses) rather than CD's and bonds, because of the higher yields. The yield on the S&P 500, was 16% last year. What did you get if you parked your money in a CD last year?
