Tex "Wouldn’t the same logic apply to the illegal immigrants? Whether they are non-violent or not shouldn’t matter. "

The illegal immigrants that were released were being charged with moral turpitude, a far more serious crime than jaywalking.

Not quite, texas.. it might be better stated to say, ever the realist that there is likely more than what I would know about it that went into the decision.. if you really want to know what you asked, ask a politician that was there when the decision was made.

The republican establishment in DC doesn't like Cruz. The more asinine Cruz is the worse the GOP looks. Cruz is not sought out by the media he puts himself there.

Ever in denial of the actions of his glorious President and administration. Divert attention elsewhere.

I do hope that Cruz can help straighten up the mess. I voted for him. If he fails, blame me. If he does well give him the credit.

19/5 "Under gw, the debt was substantially increased,"

As far as deficit spending I think the only debt free POTUS was Andrew Jackson.

Apparently deficit spending is only relevant to liberals when they're not in power.

I see Obama's brother lost his election and is crying voter fraud and racism. That is FUNNY!!!!

Maybe he can find a way to blame it on BUSH like his bro constantly does.

Since Brett Feese was non-violent, are you advocating that he be released!!!

Certainly not I hope. Wouldn’t the same logic apply to the illegal immigrants? Whether they are non-violent or not shouldn’t matter.

Debt increased $3 trillion while Bush and Republicans were in charge. Debt has increased $9 trillion since the Rats took charge.

Hi chubby, gw increased the debt by trillions any way you slice it. And, captain obvious, libya was ruled by Qaddafi during gw's tenure, not a fan or ally of ours.. btw, what exactly is a current looser?

I know logic is foreign to your thought process 19/5, however under GW Libya and Egypt were, while maybe not allies, at least helping to bring some stabilization to the Mid-East. Also while spending far more than he should the budget deficit the last year of a Republican congress and the Bush administration was $160 billion a far cry from the annual $2 trillion we face with the current looser.

Bufftrev1 - I don't disagree. I was not a fan of Bush and the way he governed. Republicans are as much to blame for the nations stupid actions as any Democrat is. If we are cutting the nations services state side then we should also be cutting handouts worldwide and in my humble opinion cut them to $0. It is most definitely not a national security issue to keep sending money to those nations who for whatever reason don't want to grow their own countries economies or provide for their own national security. If we cut off all aid to them, be they European or Middle Eastern or Far Eastern the sun would still rise tomorrow.

Pretty dramatic carlhiller.. by the same line of reasoning, the republicans are equally hypocritical. Under gw, the US also gave money to Egypt. Under gw, the debt was substantially increased, and yet republicans claim to be fiscally responsible. The data does not match the rhetoric. See how easy that was? By your logic, are not Republicans delusional and dangerous to the nation?

"the $2.7 trillion in revenue will be the most money the federal government has collected in history."

Actually the govt will collect $2.9 trillion in 2012, but what exactly does that have to do with anything? Only a portion of that number is from income tax. The US govt will ALWAYS collect more revenue in one year over the next, as long as our population and economy continue to grow.

It's hard for me to imagine why anyone would find that surprising.

"the $2.7 trillion in revenue will be the most money the federal government has collected in history." WaitingForReason - We have to spend so much at the expense of American taxpayers because we are the worlds welfare provider and cop. Obama and the Democrats are hypocrites. After all of the apocalyptic howling over the possibility of not increasing 2013 spending and having the sequestration start to cut government increases in spending, we still have more than enough money to donate to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt to the tune of $250 million and that was just the down payment on $1 billion pledged by Obama in 2011. These people are delusional and dangerous to the survival of the nation.

.. no where in the article does it say the illegal detainees were violent.

The detainees WOULD be 'illegal detainees', if they were US citizens, subject to the Constitution. Otherwise, they're just detainees. Leftists have a very difficult time using the word 'illegal' with 'immigrants', when the illegal immigrants hve broken US law to be here, but no trouble using it in conjunction with detainees who have violent intentions toward rhe US!

We should stop calling handouts "entitlements." Get it straight: welfare, food stamps, WIC....ad nauseum, are NOT ENTITLEMENTS.

They are TAXPAYER FUNDED HANDOUTS, and shouldn't be called ENTITLEMENTS at all. Social security and veterans benefits are ENTITLEMENTS because the people receiving them are ENTITLED to them. They were EARNED and PAID FOR by the recipients... (except for a couple million who have gone on social security in the last couple of years claiming ANXIETY, and a few million with fake medical problems, i.e., back problems which are hard to disprove), but you get the idea.
