Notice how Obama and the media changed their tune when it became clear that their scare tactics weren't having an effect on the public or the GOP? At first (probably when you sent this letter) they were all with the end of the world fear mongering. But at the end they about-faced and started telling us that we might not even notice anything at first. That tells me that it was all just politics on the part of the man and party whose idea the sequester was in the first place.

From what i've read and heard little will be effected, it is actually a cut in the automatic yearly increases in dept. budgets.

The variety of reports on the impacts are very confusing and seem to come from multiple fronts. Even the President was saying that the janitors in Washington DC would lose their jobs. Later that was revised by the administration.

It will be interesting to see the tactic that the executive branch takes in rolling the sequester out. Will it be used as a tool to punish one sector of society over another? Will it be used to create further divisiveness in society from a platform of rhetoric? Will it be used to reduce wasteful spending and consolidate duplicate agencies into fewer, more efficient ones?

Will they continue to sound like a whining teenager that was grounded or figure out the best way to cope and deal with the situation?

Yeah, only in Washington can you have spending cuts yet somehow spend more than the previous year.

Mr. Woodhouse, let me introduce you to Mr. Erick Erickson at Redstate. He had some really interesting things to say about the Obamaphones on Feb 27th, 2013. Maybe it will make you feel better (but I suspect probably not.)

Obama and the Democrats are running a fear campaign warning Americans of budget cuts that are going to be overwhelming to our way of life. They want to keep raising taxes and fees on all working classes instead of getting rid of any of their precious giveaways. Free housing and food is one thing, but spending $2.3 billion a year for free cell phones and giving ****** to people on welfare is nothing more than government gone wild. These services he says will be cut could be far less severe if Congress would get some backbone and cut the pork. A balanced approach for this president is to spend more and cut nothing. Working Americans are getting fed up. They foreseeing the day when people will no longer have an opportunity to choose freedom from government gone wild." - Curt Woodhouse

As evidence of President Obama's desire to be fiscally responsible, we just granted Egypt $250 million in emergency aid that is outside the near $2 billion we already provide.

While the Obama administration releases violent criminals onto our streets, the Department of Homeland Security just purchased 2,700 light armored tanks to go along with their 1.6 billion bullets.

It is amazing how stupid the right really is. I also notice they take no responsibility for anything.

It's amazing how stupid the left really is. All they do is ignore the facts and kneel at the altar of tax-and-spend, lies, and the politics of personal destruction.

In its latest Budget and Economic Update, the CBO forecasts that federal revenue will top $2.7 trillion in 2013, slightly higher than the $2.6 trillion the government collected in 2007, when the last recession officially began. In fact, the $2.7 trillion in revenue will be the most money the federal government has collected in history.

Does not sound like a revenue problem. Could it be we spend too much?

Despite claims that those at the top aren’t paying their “fair share,” the Tax Policy Center reports that the often-maligned “1%” will have an average income of $1.4 million, paying $514,144 in taxes. They’ll foot over 30 percent of the total bill. The top 20 percent of Americans, meanwhile, will pay nearly 72 percent of the federal tax burden.

"Erik- also say the report on MRAPs and I heard a rumor that Reeder, Hayes, 424, Sham, and the other libs have applications in to drive them. Hiel Obama!!"

This is all the right has a rumor that they can not substantiate except with a chain e-mail. It has grown from a contract for 40 caliber bullets. It is a five year contract and is for border security which then grew into FEMA is training a youth squad complete with light armoured vehicles and rounds of ammo.

The right complains about us running a fear campaign they are running a pretty good ones themselves, they are so scared of their own campaign.

So it is for local law enforcement, something they requested for. Something that is not built in large quantities for one order as is implied by the right wing. It is not for the federal government or for DHS. It is purchased by them to give to local law enforcement that requests it.

Jealous Shammy? Envy is such a debilitating mental state, as demonstrated by Shammy every time he logs on here.

" The top 20 percent of Americans, meanwhile, will pay nearly 72 percent of the federal tax burden."

You sure oou don't mean "income tax"? Or are you contending that they pay 72% of all gas, cigarette, and alcohol tax too?

We should stop calling handouts "entitlements." Get it straight: welfare, food stamps, WIC....ad nauseum, are NOT ENTITLEMENTS.

They are TAXPAYER FUNDED HANDOUTS, and shouldn't be called ENTITLEMENTS at all. Social security and veterans benefits are ENTITLEMENTS because the people receiving them are ENTITLED to them. They were EARNED and PAID FOR by the recipients... (except for a couple million who have gone on social security in the last couple of years claiming ANXIETY, and a few million with fake medical problems, i.e., back problems which are hard to disprove), but you get the idea.

The detainees WOULD be 'illegal detainees', if they were US citizens, subject to the Constitution. Otherwise, they're just detainees. Leftists have a very difficult time using the word 'illegal' with 'immigrants', when the illegal immigrants hve broken US law to be here, but no trouble using it in conjunction with detainees who have violent intentions toward rhe US!

Hi wmknapp, despite your attempt to reframe the issue, what you posted does not change the fact that nowhere in the vague article posted by chubby without referencing a source does it say the individuals are violent.
