Close the school and move on. If the valley girls don't approve...let them by the building and start a charter school

I think that the taxpayers of Jersey Shore had better wake up and get to school board meetings!!! If that school IS NOT closed, the retired and young adults will pay in a very big way. These Nippenose Valley disgruntled folks want there Elementary school open at any cost and Raye Bierly (a teacher???? She represents the teachers union as the President) has brought Garth Everett into her lie to unshame herself. Where was Harry Brungard? That is okay, because Adrienne Stahl stated last night that she and 2 Nippenose Valley residents will be joining the board after a special election. Would that law firm like to pay my taxes? If Jersey Shore Elementary is such a bad school, maybe the Nippenose Valley population can clean it up for free. Call it Christian charity

I do believe the district has incurred bills due to the hold up and postponement in renovations and court proceedings to redistrict for greater representation to the districts school board. I would be nice to see the parents in the valley run their own charter school, that way they can teach them how to manipulate even the most fragile mind. Maybe Mr. Beirly can be the administrator and keep her own job safe, sink or swim time? I see this district sinking very fast....WATCH

I think maybe the SG should have contacted Garth Everett for his quoted words, not Raye Bierly's. I think everyone should be calling our representative from Muncy!!!

Sorry to be the one to tell parents this, but the school district does NOT owe you anything. You have a choice of where to live. If you don't like the schools that are voted to stay open, you have options: move, homeschool your child, pay tuition to have your child sent to a different district, or start a charter school. But parents act as if the district has to meet their every need...how ridiculous.

A Merrill Sweitzer has placed an ad in the S-G. It can be read online from the S-G homepage (it's along the far right hand column) that very specifically speaks to this topic without any personal digs and vendetta-like language that is often prevalent on these kinds of issues.

I don't know Mr. Sweitzer and I have no personal or professional stake in Nippenose closing. But after reading his argument, I don't recall hearing or reading any thoughtful dialogue from school board members -- and certainly none from many of the posters here in this forum -- that address the facts and figures presented by Mr. Sweitzer.

I believe his argument as presented, at the very least, has merit and warrants a practical, logical response.

Most of Mr Sweitzers 'facts' were faulty...you can wrap anything in schmooz and make it looks good...go for the facts

A Merrill Sweitzer spoke at a Save Our School District/Concerned Citizens social this past Friday. The man is an 85 year old maintenance supervisor who believes he has more experience than the administrative educational team in Jersey Shore. After I listened to Harry Brungard tell him that his numbers were based on projections and not actual numbers, and he didn't understand what the difference was; that was frightening. I would suggest that art person call their representative or district administrator for their personal info

I can't believe that the Jersey Shore School has not been closed yet!I agree with Andy33, close the school and move on. Yes, all the tax payers need to attend this school board meeting on Thursday. This is costing all the Jersey Shore District Tax payers; step up and make your voice heard.

I think that the citizens of Jersey Shore should fight to keep quality education in the district. Maybe the union president could fight for the students at meetings instead of her retirement package. Take a pay freeze and give more to the children, who will be our communities future. I read about what some educators do in their spare time to encourage and help the kids, these are the real educators. There is something special about the educators of the past that is missing in today's society, can anyone diagnose it?

It's not just about keeping Nippenose open. Avis and Saladasburg will be next on the chopping block. I have never seen so many people so eager to spend 15 million dollars. Jersey Shore already has the highest tax base in Lycoming County and if this project goes through the taxes will increase. I would be willing to bet that most of the residents in the Jersey Shore School district are in no position to handle a major school tax increase. There is always a way to improvise and come to an agreement. Make the neccessary renovations to Jersey Shore and keep the outside schools open. The problem is the board and the district has made this personal and are no longer able to see past their personal agendas. Those Valley girls aren't just trying to keep their school open they are fighting for the tax payers in the entire district. If this vote passes...you all better get out your check books because your gonna be eating peanut butter and jelly for supper!!!

Fisherman, how is keeping a school open that is costing the taxpayers saving me anything? Why should I have to pay to keep a school open that can be closed? I haven't seen a personal agenda, what does that look like? I think some people are paranoid and that is a mental disorder. Last week it was the Amish Mafia, this week it is hidden agenda. Stop your propaganda and open a charter school. MOVE ON.

Lets Go Fishy, what the heck are you talking about? What agenda, put up or shut up time .....?? The agenda is exactly obvious, keep the school open because we want it and because we are wealthy. Why cannot you all just shut up and say that???? Get out your checkbooks and pay for it, now...better served, than big fat liars....
