Is the system broke? Don't tell these education honorees

"Is the system broke?" an expected question coming from an SG intern. What year BEFORE you graduated, did the journalism courses get the ax?

Agreed USA....I have stated before...if I had school aged children,they would NEVER be enrolled in the public school system.

No one should be celebrating K-12 public education! Too many kids are being graduated without the ability to read at a satisfactory level. Geography and history are lost causes. Discussing these subjects with todays grads makes one cringe. As for math, take away the calculators and see what happens.

Education started a downward trend in the 60's and 70's. Why do we allow it to continue? The grand program, NO STUDENT LEFT BEHIND, has been a fiasco.

As long as everyone sets on their backsides and waits for someone else to tackle the problem, it won't change.
