For a start these devices should be installed and mandatory in all government vehicles.

How about park outside a bar and catch them before they even get in their car? I know, I know...if the cops sit outside a bar no one would go in for fear of being caught drunk while leaving. Too effin' bad if it'll keep drunks from behind the wheel.

This is lame. Our tax dollars should be spent on something more useful...like snow removal on the streets prior to rush hour.

Jeff33, I'd guess if you actually knew anything of importance then you'd know the money is set aside in the state and is alotted to perform these duties at little to no cost to the PD's.

"the money is set aside in the state and is alotted to perform these duties at little to no cost to the PD's."

So in other words instead of the funding being provided locally--by the taxpayer, it is provided by the state--by the taxpayer. Thanks for clarifying!

JustSomeGuy,

And while they are at it let's get after those "CELL PHONE" drivers.

By adding a device that can detect a car in motion & the location of a Cell phone in use in the automobile.

And better yet.. when the driver uses a cell phone [to send or receive] the phone Logs the location, call, time, date, and duration, then broadcasts the location and I.D of the driver too the nearest Police Officer for apprehension.

Also include the Cell phone system as a part of the DUI Check-Points

Yep.. that's the Ticket, just what we need... more Gov. control... if it saves just one life..! And ... Too effin' bad if it'll keep those "CELL PHONE" drivers from behind the wheel.

"Let's get after those "CELL PHONE" drivers."

This wouldn't happen, unless government agencies were exempted from that law. I followed a local "town clown"(cop) the other day. Made two turns without using his signal. Turns out holding a cell phone to your face and driving, the "town clown" had to omit basic signaling while driving.

A while back I was going about 57 in a 55. County Sheriff blew by at about 65, and ran a STOP SIGN. ( no lights or siren) .a few miles down the road the vehicle was parked at a Restaurant.

I wonder... If he had Tee-Boned a van full of kids... Would they have been less injured [or dead] because he was a Sheriff...??

"Everywhere you went, you'd bump into a police car."

Where are the conservatives of Lycoming County on this one? If that's not a police state, what is? When the police are so thick you can't go a block without seeing them, they are not serving and protecting. They are intimidating and high on their power. DUIs are a fundraiser for this county. They would love a few more repeat offenders.

Not all taxpayer dollars, I'm sure. I'd lay a good bet most comes from fines and costs from citations. Again, no matter how you shake it; we all pay for our government to run. I don't mind paying, if they take drunks off the road and teach them a lesson; even though it could be repeat offenders.

"Wherever you went you bumped into a police car," Solomon said.

But try to find one in a "real" crime situation and they are nowhere to be found. Over-glorified Revenue collection agents....

"Everybody hates the police....until they need them of course."

When the philosophy of the police changed from "to serve and protect" to "revenue collection agents" my respect is non existant toward them.

Can't stand any of them, any situation.. Show me just ONE(1) honest cop and I'll show you my pet unicorn.

Eric88, you've jumped ahead of Jeff33 to have the lamest statements posted! "Can't stand any of them, any situation.. Show me just ONE(1) honest cop and I'll show you my pet unicorn". Maybe you've spent too much time on the wrong side of the law? Just saying!!!

Local guy, for a guy that proved below he has no idea how taxes or government funding works I applaud your attempt at bashing my so called lame comment.

" The only "Honest Cop" I know or knew was Officer..... Ret."

-- unfortunately most good cops no longer serve...The new wave of government puppets infestation of local precincts took over..
