Today I made the trip from Montoursville to Jersey Shore the amount of trash along the highway was gross. With jails being full of D.U.Is and lesser crime just sitting in there ....

Maybe someone should explain the term, "jail bait" to Gary? "Jail bait","San Quentin Quail","Angola Cane Cutters" are terms usually used to describe beautiful, provocative, underage girls that beckon older men into inappropriate relationships that land them in jail. So,Gary, are you sure you want sexy alluring little girls out on the highway picking up trash? I think the jails are quite full enough already, thank you very much!

lol Premier I'm sure the author didn't think about that before they wrote it.

I agree that INMATES should have to clean up the trash on the side of the highways. On a sidenote however, PennDot was literally doing this yesterday between the Maynard Street and Mansfield exits.

Community service should be used for such things.

At a much, much higher rate I might add.

Maybe this would be an idea for the worthless police. when they are set up for their "revenue collection" speed traps they could pick up garbage within a certain perimeter of their vehicle. That is- of course if you can pry their lazy ***es out of the climate controlled cruisers!

The cost of having guards available to supervise inmates would outweigh the benefit. I agree with erik as to community service ( those who are not incarcerated but owe costs).

Again why not put the "welfare trash" out on the roads for litter cleanup? Maybe just 5 hours a week to show their gratification from mooching free money from the taxpayer?

Please, for my own personal satisfaction, define welfare trash.

** and also the folks that cannot grasp the simple concept of "Can't feed em, don't breed em'"--so called parents that look at children only as cash cows. Sometimes also referred to as the Democrat voter.

Alright, I appreciate that Eric, and in that case, I don't disagree with your previous statement either.

I didn't mean to click agree to your most recent comment, only the previous one.

Your last comment is actually really insulting. I'm a Democrat. I don't have any regrets about that, however, I'm not on welfare nor do I look at my child as a cash cow. I think that statement is in ridiculously poor taste.

Use inmates, community service, those who are able and getting a gov't handout and the roads would be clean. Too logical.

Down here in Florida they use inmates and much of the South! Muncy State Prison use to have road gangs picking up litter not to long ago I use to see them all the time on the State Highways. What happen to them? Probably a union thing with Penndot. putting Union workers out of work!

How about people respect the beauty of the environment enough to just stop dumping their trash along community highways?

LaughIn you took my thought. I wonder the same thing what is wrong with you putting trash in the trash can, why make more unecessary work for others.

I can remember when I was participating in a 'Adopt a Highway' Cleanup crew. People would throw trash out their windows and blow their horns while we were picking it up.
